Most Hated Actors

I don't really get hating an actor, but for whatever reasons, these guys seem like they're hated the most:

Ben Affleck
Nicolas Cage
Josh Hartnett
Mathew McConaughey
Hayden Christensen
Paul Walker

who else is hated as much, or even more than?

Numanoid 02-07-08 10:45 PM

OJ Simpson

Brack 02-07-08 10:50 PM

Halle Barry gets a lot of hate. Especially here on dvdtalk.

geicos27 02-07-08 11:39 PM

#1 Tom Cruise

What do I win?

But she's HOT. And a MILF. :D

Some of my "favorites":

Richard Gere (only good movies he makes are when something else hinders his woodenness - i.e. Malick's visuals in Days of Heaven, Edward Norton in Primal Fear, Louis Gossett Jr. in An Officer and a Gentleman)

Hayden "Mannequin Skywalker" Christensen
Orlando Bloom (the name alone puts me into a vengeful rage)
Zac Efron (nearly shat a brick when Richard Linklater cast him as the lead in his next movie)

Shazam 02-07-08 11:58 PM

Michael Rappaport. The only character he plays is himself.

cranberries fan 02-08-08 12:01 AM

I can see why Halle Berry is hated "she can't act" ((Catwoman)).

The_Cube 02-08-08 12:05 AM

I like most of the actors listed so far.

Here is my list of hated actors. I don't know if this is how the general public feels about these people, but I certainly don't like watching movies with the following people:

Michael Douglass
Al Pacino
Uma Thurman
Julia Roberts
Tim Robbins
Susan Sarandon
Meryl Streep

fumanstan 02-08-08 12:15 AM

Will Smith seems to be hated around here.

Sure it's not most beloved actors? :hscratch:

PopcornTreeCt 02-08-08 01:02 AM

I don't have any actors that I hate. I would say though that I have never been able to sympathize with any Julia Roberts character.

Is this politically motivated?

Anyway, on to me...

I loathe this person:
Tara Reid - and if she walked in front of me, I'd push her in front of a moving bus and then walk over and spit on her corpse.

I hate these actors:
Halle Berry
Hayden Christensen
Harrison Ford (everything post-regarding Henry)
John Billingsly
Paul Giamatti
John Goodman
Lucy Lawless
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Freddie Prince Jr.

I'll think of more later maybe. So much hate to go around.

He is still a damn good actor in my book

I don't hate him, but I think a lot of people do because of the things he says and the does.

Zen Peckinpah 02-08-08 01:23 AM

Michael Douglas? Al Pacino? John Goodman?

Not by a long shot.

Michael Douglas is excellent at chewing scenery. Wall Street and Falling Down are fucking classics.

Pacino is a contemporary. He may do a lot of shit, but come on. He's Michael F'N Corleone.

John Goodman has done a lot of crap. A LOT of crap. But I still love him to death. All of his Coen Brothers collaborations stand out, especially The Big Lebowski, which is less a movie and more of a way of life and an answer to everything in existence. Also the best fuckin' thing ever...Goodman owns in this one. "OVER THE LINE!"

Most actors at least have one decent movie on their resume, even a good performance.

PopcornTreeCt 02-08-08 01:29 AM

Maybe some people don't like him because he's such a huge movie star and yet not really a damn good actor. At least in my opinion.

Shazam 02-08-08 01:30 AM

You are correct. For instance, Michael Rappaport was decent in those episodes of Friends he was in.

Lipid 02-08-08 02:04 AM

Willem Dafoe

I've always hated him. I think Boondock Saints and his character in it just put me over the line to feel repulsed by whatever he acts in. It's at the point where if I'm looking at a movie to rent/watch and see he stars in it, odds are unless it got really good reviews/word of mouth, I won't watch it.

Giggles 02-08-08 03:00 AM

I can't recall any actors I REALLY hate, but some I find quite annoying. Like Nicholas Cage (he plays the same character all over again lately) and Bruce Willis (the same reason). After 'Before the Devil Knows You're Dead' I finally realised why Ethan Hawke have been irritating me so much always - he's just a bad actor. He can't play and just grimaces all the time.
Oh, and...

I'd be the second in the queue to spit, Trigger ;)

big whoppa 02-08-08 05:13 AM

Hate for acting abilities or otherwise? If the former, Madonna fits the bill. For the latter, Will Smith gets on my nerves.

Yeah, she's OK in Lebowski, but mostly because she didn't need to act for that role.

wm lopez 02-08-08 06:58 AM

Will Smith because he thinks he was the reason ID4 was the hit it was.
George Clooney because it seems Hollywood & media is pushing this guy on the public as the man.

The skirt did it for you, huh!?

james2025a 02-08-08 08:33 AM

I really hate Julia Roberts. She can't act and who ever first said that she is beautiful.....well they need their eyes testing. Ditto for Renne Zellwegeer and Sara Jessica Parker. On the male side, well i hate Tom Hanks acting. He seems like a nice enough guy in real life...but his acting is never up to much IMO. Also all the "Friends" people. None of them can act worth shit.

aJOHNymous 02-08-08 08:37 AM

I'll say it. I hate (ok, strongly dislike) Denzel Washington. He always has a condescending sneer and comes off as really cocky in his interviews. He's also played the racecard in a few interviews that I've heard/read and I just cannot respect anyone who is as successful as he is and still using that as a crutch.

Denise Richards and Heather Graham are painful to listen to in movies, they couldn't deliver a line of dialog to save their lives. I can't say I hate em since I rewatch movies with them, repeatedly, late at night.

Can't think of any actors/actress I flat out hate, even Mannequin from the Star Wars prequel was pretty decent in Shattered Glass (and I don't blame him for the stiffness in Star Wars, way to go, Mr. Lucas). I'd say Paris Hilton, but that would give her too much credit by implying she is an actress.

Oh wait no, I got it, I don't like Ben Foster. His short time in X3 bothered me, and his entire role in 3:10 to Yuma made me cringe.

It's hard for me to say that I absolutely hate any specific actor, but I am trying to think of a name that comes up that makes me roll my eyes....

And the only one I can think of right now is Johnny Depp.

He's not a bad actor and he's in some flicks I really love, but I haven't been impressed with a performance of his in a while. I need to revisit Sweeney... there may be something there I missed... when I saw it in theatres I was pretty let down. As a fan of Burton, Sondheim and gore I was surprised how much I didn't enjoy that film.

I think for me it's more of the role/movie and actor combo, than just an actor alone.

I don't care much for Tom Cruise either, but the guy is electric in Magnolia.

Edit to add: Oh and Gael Garcia Bernal... I really find him completely unlikable.

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 02-08-08 08:59 AM

1. Nic Cage
1a. John Cusack

Sweet Baby James 02-08-08 10:16 AM

Robin fucking Williams and you can add his Comic Relief buddies Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg to the list!

BravesMG 02-08-08 10:26 AM

Drew Barrymore

Reese Witherspoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(I HATE her so much)

Ditto.

And just be sure to step back when she opens her mouth or else you may never be seen from again.

Groucho 02-08-08 10:34 AM

No mention of Mel Gibson? I thought he'd become fairly unpopular after his anti-semitic rants.

RichC2 02-08-08 10:39 AM

yeah but thats as a person, as an actor? I don't hate him.
