Has anyone mentioned yet that the "thing" that eats HUD is most likely not the same "thing" that trashes the city? The city guy is huge...20-30 stories maybe...the size of a city block almost. The other "thing" is big, but maybe 4-5 stores and has different arms etc. I'm guessing the big guy got away or something...

By the way, i've watched the Youtube vid of the ending and I still don't see jack shit fall from the sky and splash into the water. Can someone post the exact timestamp on the vid of when it happens?

Think there'll be a wave of these type of character videotaping their movie movies?

I want another movie but not sure if I want a sequel along the same timeline of the original. How many different scenarios for another person or group can they run through parallel to the original movie and have a runtime of 80-90 minutes? I would really like them to pick up where the first movie left off with filming of the cleanup and discovery of the original movie with interspersing footage caught by other people of the mayhem. Kind of like a documentary made after the disaster with footage caught during the disaster. Then maybe in the future they can make a true sequel where the monster destroys Fenway and carries Randy Moss off to the depths of hell.

It's difficult to see...it was much more clear in the theater. Watch the dead center of the screen at the ocean right near the shore.

I loved this movie, but this is a very funny, pretty accurate depiction of Cloverfield. Spoilers, of course...

I don't know if other theatre's have this, but I found it rather interesting that the Uptown here in DC has a sign informing patrons that the style of fimmaking might induce motion sickness - I personally thought 'Blair Witch' was much worse in that respect. As for the New York Times and Entertainment Weekly reviews - I also agreed that I personally couldn't give a toss about the characters - what whiny twenty somethings - and yes, 'The Host' was much better in terms of characters.

My theatre had the warning signs about motion sickness when I was there on Saturday...when I saw the flick Friday night, they didn't have the signs, so I'm sure they were flooded with complaints and felt they needed to post something. Funny.

I think the sequel idea of having other peoples' tapings during the events is an interesting one.

I don't want a rehash of the same events throughout the sequel. What else can really be going on that we need to see for another 90 minutes? I think some footage from other perspectives, graduation ceremony with family, birthday party, tourists, etc. would be good but not an entire movie running parallel to the first one. The movie could go from the cleanup to flashbacks of the destruction and on into the future as the government attempts to piece the whole thing together and reassemble what is left of New York. This could be along the lines of a real documentary about what actually took place.

I just saw it...awesome flick! That is how a monster movie should be made. Very well done. Hopefully the sequel won't suck!

As much of a stretch as it is to believe that a monster that has lived underwater for many years and never been seen could somehow also breathe out of the water, to think that it could do so in space is REALLY pushing it.

Just saw this tonight. This movie SCARED the shit out of me. I went in completely cold, nothing read except for some reviews, and damn. Time will tell if this joins Alien or The Thing, but this was the best sci-fi/horror movie I've seen in a while.
NON-SPOILER comment: The Statue of Liberty was only the beginning. This one is INTENSE.
How did this get a PG-13? One of the most intense ones I've ever seen.

being intense doesn't count as an R-rateable offense. Not any bloodier or more violent than stuff you get on primetime TV.
