Wrong Movie Shown
I was at the theater and waiting to see The Golden Compass (Had a freebie ticket) and then the lights went dim and the title came up as AVP: R. I figured it was another commercial but we gradually figured out that it was the wrong reel. People started leaving and some poor little kids in the front rows were crying. They shut it off at about 5 minutes in and everyone started coming back, (not the little kids though). They came in and gave us free tickets and 20 minutes later the show started. They had forgotten to change the reel after the AVP:R show. Long story made short, saw a freebie movie, got free tickets and Golden Compass wasnt half bad.

When I was a kid, we went to see "Hook" and when the trailers started, we were treated to the trailer of "Basic Instinct"... seems the "Hook" reels were switched with "The Prince of Tides" reels.

When we went to see Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers we knew something was wrong when the Warner Brothers logo appeared and weird didgeridoo music started playing. Turns out they had some sort of mixup and we saw the first few minutes of Kangaroo Jack. Awesome.

I got to watch a half hour of American Gangster - stretched out today. There were, like, three feet being projected on the floor and ceiling. Some guy left, came back quick. I figured that he told customer service. I gave it ten minutes, before I went out and also complained. By the time I got back, it was fixed.
I think that there was a time when guys really cared about the booth operations. Now a cineplex will give a minimum wage 16 year old the job. And this is the sort of thing that happens.
I don't understand the PWNT thing either. And I don't really care. Anyways, rock and roll music is the devil - not trendy internet slang.

PWNT = Stupid
Once I was in a theater packed with children to see a children's movie and when it started it turned out they had one of the Halloween movies playing. Kids were crying and parents were storming out. It was a mess.

Ba-bump.
Took my kid to see Sing last weekend, and instead got the first few minutes of Live By Night.
I was kinda disappointed that the theater didn't offer an apology. But at least it was just f-bombs instead of violence or sex.

Years ago, I went to see Oliver Stone's Alexander and The Polar Express started playing. i was surprised it was fixed so fast, because I thought once a film was spliced together on that big platter in the projection booth you couldn't just swap it out with a new print. Another time, at a one dollar theatre, the auditoriums were mislabled, so instead of Natural Born Killers, Colour of Night started playing. There was only about a dozen of us there, so the manager just told everyone to switch theatres, they didn't even re-start the movies

Responding to a nine year old comment: The final time I went to the dollar theater, I complained about there being no sound. It turned out that the guy selling popcorn was also in charge of the booth. He needed to shut down the cash register and leave a line of people to go fix the projector.

Going back to the origins of this thread ... After watching 5 minutes of AvP:Requiem the children were reduced to tears. They were quicker than me; I was about half way through.
