Well, I wouldn't blame the guy. It's gotten him where he's now, rich and famous. He does a bangup job of appealing to the masses. Personally, I'll pass again.

I feel like this is different role for Will Smith. Hitch, he was a "love-doctor, smooth talker", Pursuit of Happyness, he was a caring father, with his life struggles..this movie is so different. I was actually excited about this more for that reason alone. It is different. I loved the trailer in the theater and will definitely see this when it comes out.

Yeah, just imagine how much it'll make if it gets the "L. Ron" Seal Of Approval™...

My friend Stuart summed Will Smith up perfectly by asking me "Name one good movie he has ever been in." I tried saying Men in Black, but even that is avergae really. The guy has gotten to be a superstar by appearing in drivel. I am sure people with defend the MIB movies, the Bad Boy movies and the few shots are serious-dom that he has tried, but deep down you know that he has not done a single good movie. I think he has the potential to do a good movie as the guy is very likable, but man he needs to fire his agent. I Am Legend had such great potential and it ended up being utter garbage. Give me the Ridley Scott directed movie starring Arnie that i had always read about. Or hell, give me the Omega Man with Chuck.

That is definitely subjective, because I think Will Smith has been in lots of GOOD movies, just hardly any GREAT ones. Good Will Smith movies:

Six Degrees of Seperation
Men In Black
Enemy of the State
Bad Boys II
I, Robot
Hitch
Pursuit of Happyness
I Am Legend

He does movies that appeal to the masses, which in general are average.

I thought Hitch, Men in Black and Pursuit of Happyness were actually good films. But alas, to each their own. He was good in Ali but the movie itself could have been better.

I like Bad Boys and I really like Bad Boys 2 thats about it as fas as Will Smith movies go.
Enemy of the State and Independence Day are decent as well I guess.
Men in Black 1/2 are both very disappointing and unfulfilling to me. I think Wild Wild West is actually better than both the MIB movies combined.
I am Legend and I, Robot have horrendously disappointing 3rd acts.
Hitch is absolutely terrible.
I wont even go see Will Smith movies in theaters anymore. I robot was the last one I saw in theaters and unless they make Bad Boys 3 I dont see myself going to see a Will Smith movie anytime soon. IMO he makes some of the most by-the-numbers overly CGI'd forgettable studio vehicles. I know people seem to like him though so good for him I guess.
I am interested to see how Hancock will do. I really dont think it will get passed $150 million but who knows. If anyone can open a move it is gonna be Smith.

I'm still on the fence about seeing this one. For some reason, I was pretty excited about it until I saw the scene from the recent trailer and ads with Will in his leather X-men rip-off superhero costume, which for some reason robbed the film of all credibility for me.

Well at least it won't have the Bad Boys II "Goes on forever" syndrome.

That movie needed to drop a good 40 minutes.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The only movie that ever made my ass numb in a theater.

I have to say, Im usually entertained by just about everything he's done... Great? No. But entertained. When I first saw cuts for this, I wasnt interested at all. But some of the newer trailers for this have me thinking differently. Still not sure Ill see it in the theatres, but at least now I am on the fence.

I've seen him post something about his logic before. If it's over 2 hours AND it's R rated, it is good.

I live down in north Alabama, and I've been trying to find a friend to go see an advance screening of this in Atlanta. Stupid friends and their irresponsibility.

Fantasy Moguls is predicting $150 million for the first 5 days. The tracking numbers are sky high for this film and that should translate to a gigantic opening, especially since this is the only big film debuting next week.

Not to mention the fact that if it's only 92 minutes long there will be more screenings per day.

It worked for MiB. 92 minutes does seem awfully short however if that's including credits. Hell, you've probably seen the movie essentially if you've sat through the trailer.

This might mean the movie actually takes some interesting chances!
