Advance Screening Question

So I got a pass to see Juno tonight. I've never been to one of these 'advance' screenings before, so what should I expect? It says on the flyer to show up early, overbooked seats, etc...so how early is early? The show starts at 7:30...when should I get there?

It depends on the movie, but you should generally arrive at least an hour before.

Yeah, the general rule of thumb is if it's a movie that is being released in the coming week or two, it's a press or buzz screening. Which is one that they are already doing a press screening, but have set aside some seats for some nonpress folks to see. It also adds general audience reaction. The seating in these is pretty tight, since it's just to fill in the gap.

Then there's the buzz generating screening which I believe is what the Juno one would be since they've been screening this film the last few weeks like crazy. It's just a simple show up 45 to an hour before showing based on the popularity of the film and it's all good

Test screenings on the other hand are beast and require more of a written question sheet to be filled out afterwards and are typically done six months before release. Shit, I'm still waiting for Fanboys to come out so I can actually talk to someone about it and that was about a year back now. They're done for a couple of reasons.

Sometimes to make changes to the film based on the reaction of the crowd and what folks write. Another reason is to see how to market the film by getting the best moments from the viewing and see what appeals to the masses.

to your question.. show starts at 7:30? Get there around 6-6:15
