"I...have come here...to chew bubble gum...and kick ass...and I'm allllllllll out of bubble gum."

Say this in your most overdramatic, badass, testosterone-bleeding voice, and you will understand the true meaning of what an epic line is.

Leonidas, Maximus, William Wallace, Achilles, Beowulf...none of these guys'll ever have anything on Nada.

Very cool responses so far. I made this poll without putting hardly (read: any) thought into it.

Exactly. Everything in the poll is a hackneyed by comparison.

I always thought this quote should be switched with Mel Gibson's "GIVE ME BACK MY SON!" from Ransom.

Ergo...

"GIVE ME BACK MY PLANE!"

"GET OFF MY SON!"

(And, yes, I do consider that an "Epic Film." )
Just what I was going to say, though I hemmed and hawed over the definition of "epic."

I'm surprised "I love the smell of napalm..." has been mentioned yet.

Sorry, but Duvall wasn't shouting when he said it.

Is Planet of the Apes an epic?

"It's a maaaaaaaaaadhouse!"

Good pick.

Also, his previous line, "You will bow down before me! First you, and then one day, your heirs!"

I so wanted that movie to be good. That five second shot of MegaCity 1 was one of the best things ever. Just like they ensconced the best (one minute's worth) cyberspace scene in one of the most pathetic sci fi adaptations ever-Johnny Mnemonic.

My epic line comes from a TV show and I get more out of it than "FREEDOM!!!!" because it came first and is more social than territorial:

"I am not a number. I am a FREE MAN!!!" -Number 6 from The Prisoner

-It took me a bit (millions of years) for The Prisoner VS Braveheart irony to sink in. Wow.

-Oh. Image:
