The Andromeda Strain is, IMHO, a great movie. Totally different league from every other Crichton adaptation.

No, I wouldn't refuse. Unless it's made into a cartoon or half-cartoon (like Beowulf).

It's a tough call. On one hand you have something like James Patterson's Along Came a Spider, granted not an all time classic book but a decent read... that was turned into one of the most idiotic illogical movies I've ever seen. Then you have Jeff Lindsay's Darkly Dreaming Dexter, which was actually elevated into something better IMO when it became the show Dexter on Showtime.
