Recently watched it. I had no problem following the story at all. The twist wasn't as mind blowing as I was expecting, but I liked how it all turned out overall.
It's more of a SAW 3.5 as other have said just to set up SAW 5 and 6.

I enjoy these films. Despite what most say they do have a story to them, but to each their own.

Yeah, I'm kind of expecting the worst so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I also enjoyed Saw IV. The only problem I had was the conclusion which made almost no sense IMO. Hopefully Saw V will clear things up.

Eh, wasnt great, but I cant say it was so much worse than the previous 3... With the exception of the ending, thought it was pretty decent horror movie.

I think most people enjoyed the film, not that they thought it was great, but good enough to warrant seeing Saw 5 (and 6).

Everyone I went with opening night, which was about twelve people, all thought it sucked (myself included) and thought we were all idiots as we will most likely be there for Saw V since we've already seen the first four.

Anedotal evidence doesn't prove anything, other than those specific people didn't like the film. If you really didn't like the film, why the hell would you even consider SAW 5? Stupidity is not a good answer. You liked the film enough to see what could happen in the next chapter, whether you think it will be good or not, I hope you feel there is potential for entertainment, or you're just mindless.

Saw 5 could clear up and null a lot of the problems of Saw 4, if it does, I'll probably have a better opinion of part 4.

Wow, I can't imagine that all 12 people wouldn't care for this, especially if they had some sort of enjoyment from the previous 3.

Me and my friend, while both having complaints, enjoyed it enough to see how 5 plays out. I agree that how 5 plays out can make 4 (and subsequently 3) play out far better.

I didn't like it.

the male leads looked too much alike. I think it may have made the timeline confusing for me.

I think detective Mathews would have made a better, more interesting accomplice. I still don't get why generic male lead 1 was in on it.

I just got home from seeing Saw IV... Yes, it was confusing. I still liked it. Hopefully 5 & 6 will clear some things up.

One of my biggest complaints though... WAY too many quick flashes of things. I had to close my eyes at one point because it was irritating my eyes.

I finally got a chance to see this, and part of the timeline got me messed up. I mean, you have Riggs being told by the beefy detective to go home to his wife, and then they are saying that the detective has been missing. Did I miss a line somewhere? Or was that just part of the funky time issue of this film?

For some reason the saw films don't really bother me that much. I thought the third one was a nice change of pace and place it as second best in the series. For the fourth installment, I place at a tie with 2.

Good mindless fun...........that I never ruin by watching any of these films more than once.

I started watching part IV again and it makes more sense the second time around I guess. I fell asleep though.

did anyone notice that Jigsaws wife's necklace, it looks remarkably like a Key? Could she be involved in SAW V?

I saw the first three films back to back about a month ago. Thought they were great.

I never knew where I was in the timeline during Saw 4. They're really reaching at this point. I would have been fine with 3 being the final film, but also would have been okay with part 4 had it continued on logically from where 3 ended.

Anyone know how the director's cut differs from the theatrical? The DC is what I saw.

There are only a few scenes. One w/ Strahm calling his partner's mother to tell her she is dead (or injured?), extended hallway scene in the hotel with Ivan and Chance the dog, and some minor gore and a few other quick snippets here and there. The commentary points out whats new in the cut. The commentaries also tell you alot of backstory you may have missed. Definintely worth listening to all of them if you are a real fan.

It is a key and should be addressed in the next or final film. or maybe even the extended directors cut of Saw IV which should be out in 9 months.

Rented it, wondered where i knew the FBI agent from, thought it sucked when i was watching it, fell asleep halfway thru it. Woke up, wanted to get my moneys worth before i took it back to the rental store so i finished watching it and the movie did not stop sucking. After the movie was over, i got on IMDB and found out that the FBI agent was the dipshit who wore his hat backwards all the time on the Gilmore Girls. So at least i solved that mystery.

And that ladies and gentlemen, was my Saw IV experience.

Can't believe thats Betsy Russell from Private School and Tomboy. I didn't reconize her at all. She still looks damn good.
