Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin is having a midnight showing. I'm so totally there.
I still think the original Crank is the best video game movie ever made

This looks like one of the trashiest action movies ever and I can't wait to see it!
Will probably attempt to see it sometime Friday afternoon.

I saw it earlier today (around 2:40pm) and loved every lewd and depraved minute of it. They took everything I enjoyed from the first and set the dial to 11.
Not as much David Carradine as I would have liked, though. As the Triad Boss, he was a funny son of a bitch. He reminded of David Lo Pan sans the wheelchair and just a few decades younger.
Bai Ling was funny as Rai, a hooker whose Engrish is so bad about 90% of her dialogue is subtitled. There so much more I loved but the film is so brief saying anymore would require a whole mess of spoiler tags.
But I will say a few things:
One final comment. I love how they ended this one. It means a lot of sick twisted shit awaits in Crank 3.
No, that's not a spoiler cos the third was announced back when the red band trailer of this installment was released.

I loved that reveal so, so much. It's almost hard to put into words how much I enjoyed that moment in the movie. I'll probably see it again this weekend in DLP...

Hmm I just read the other Crank review on here, giving it 1 star. Why do we have reviewers who hate films before they even watch them? Anyway, definitely checking this out this weekend.

Orndorf also gave Wall-E a 2 out of 5 with a 1 out of 5 replay (I actually mostly agree with his rating but disagree with his review).

Re: Crank 2: Yes..they are making a sequel.
To be honest when i saw the first movie i was a little apprehensive...but i had an absolute blast and LOVED it. I cannot wait to see this movie this weekend. I am really interested to see what they have in store for an eventual third flick. What can they replace or inject? I would say a bomb or something, but its too Transporter 3 for Statham. I guess it will have to do with his brain somehow....insert joke here. LOL

It's Orndorf, he watched the movie and reviewed it how he felt it deserved to be reviewed. The thing with critics is you have to find people whose taste aligns with yours and go with what they say over every critic out there. His perspective was of somebody who hated the original Crank, sometimes sequels improve greatly on their original, sometimes they don't. So for people who hated the original Crank, odds are they won't like Crank 2 for the following reasons...
I went into “Crank: High Voltage” with high hopes, let me assure everyone.

I loved the original & I didn't think they could top it but I was very wrong. I love over the top action flicks & this might be the best one I've seen so far. Yeah it won't win any awards but it was beyond entertaining & that's the main thing I want when I watch a movie anyways. Plenty of violence, action, & nudity in this sequel. This is definitively my favorite movie so far for 2009. It was great to see so many people returning from the first film: Jason Statham, Amy Smart, Dwight Yoakam, Efren Ramirez, Glenn Howerton, & Reno Wilson. Plus it had great additions & cameos from Clifton Collins Jr., Bai Ling, Corey Haim, David Carradine, Ron Jeremy, & Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.... I can't wait to get this on DVD, maybe we'll get more crazy stuff with an unrated stuff. 10/10

Yeah but if you hated the first one what did you expect from this one?
Usually sequels are very similar to the original....

If someone really hated the first movie, I find it hard to believe their opinion would switch to having high hopes for the sequel.

Well, 5 out of 5 stars for me! I love my action over-the-top, and man oh man, this was it. Agree with all the positive stuff mentioned thus far...
Additional cameos (spoilered, although I'm not sure why...):
EDIT: Agreeing a few others, not sure how one could expect to like a sequel if they LOATHED the original. If you found the original to be almost worthy, but just lacking a bit...then maybe. Oh well, to each their own though...right?

Re: Crank 2: Yes..they are making a sequel.
Saw it tonight. I cannot express how awesome this movie is.
It's essentially the first one after taking a few hits of radioactive ninja crack. It's also essentially Crank as made by Troma, which makes it gloriously un-PC, misogynistic, racist, misogynistic and racist, homophobic, violent, demented, delusional, and utterly flat-out evil...and I fucking loved every second of it. The amount of randomness, violence, tits, blatant stereotypes (especially the Asians who make the City Wok Guy from South Park look racially sensitive), and hilariously unrealistic happenings in this film led to several laughs.
The only things holding it back:
1. Not enough David Carradine, as mentioned.
2. "Danger! High Voltage" by Electric Six and "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue not used on the soundtrack.
3. It ends a little too abruptly.
Other than that, Crank 2: DANGER! High Voltage is like the best movie ever. Not sure if it's better than the first, but it's clearly more insane. I don't want to say anymore, as this movie just rocks.

Re: Crank 2: Yes..they are making a sequel.
Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but here we go...
I loved Crank. Purchased it on DVD then double-dipped and purchased it again on Blu-Ray.
But, I have to admit that I really disliked this movie. So much so that I actually walked out of the theater about 50 minutes into the movie.
To me, the first Crank was like a breath of fresh air; snappy writing, nice editing, huge action scenes. But Crank 2 seemed more like the producers said "let's throw everything at the screen and see if it sticks".
Now -- believe me -- I can handle a "check your brain at the door" movie, but this one had so many extremely over-the-top scenes that I couldn't just "go along for the ride".
I guess the good news is that the friend who went with me said he loved it!
