The Jane Austen Book Club - short review

Yep, a chick-oriented movie about a somewhat unlikely group of folks who come together for monthly meetings to discuss the books of Jane Austen. It's inevitable that the film about a book club for Jane Austen books has overlays of Jane Austen's plotlines and insights, but it's done naturally enough that you enjoy how the characters play off one another and provide a support network of sorts. The cast (Kathy Baker, Amy Brenneman, Emily Blunt, Maria Bello, Maggie Grace, and Hugh Dancy) is uniformily good, and the direction never gets in the way of the story. I enjoyed it, and it has a way of making the viewer want to go home and curl up with a good book.

I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

Watched this the other night with the wife, and we both enjoyed this. Was pleased to see the Le Guin shoutouts as I enjoy both author's works.
