But it's Daniel Day-Lewis.

Saw this yesterday. DDL was amazing, as was Tommy Lee Jones. Overall, a good movie. However, if you aren't into history or the study of politics, this would most likely bore you. I happen to be into both, so I liked it.

Saw the movie this morning. The more I think over it the more I'm liking it. Across the board some of the best performances Spielberg has ever gotten from his actors. Terrific, understated direction and top notch writing. And it can't be said enough, Day-Lewis is wonderful. A humanizing and perception-changing portrait that doesn't shy from showing some of Lincoln's behind-closed-door double dealings. The deliberate pacing will no doubt throw some people off but if you're into the subject and the political process in any way it's definitely worth it.

I appreciated the performances, but couldn't shake feeling as if I were sitting through an educational film in high school during much of the procedurals. The most gripping parts for me were when it delved into Lincoln's personal life, especially one tense scene between he and Mary.
There was something so very haunting about visualizing Lincoln's dream aboard the boat heading toward an unknown destination- I was hoping Spielberg would come back to it at the end to segway to Lincoln's death, rather than the cheesy candle shot.

I want to see this just because of DDL, but I can't stand Spielberg. I'll just wait it out to buy to add to DDL collection.

Caught a matinee on Fri. Excellent film, as I was expecting. Sally Field really stole the show, IMO. Her performance was up to par with DDL. It's certainly a long movie but well worth the time. Having JGL play Lincoln's son seemed like a throw-away casting. That role didn't need a well known actor.

I really enjoyed this movie, DDL was just flat out terrific. There were parts of the movie where I felt like I was in the room while this was happening. His portrayal of Lincoln was as good as it can get IMO. The humor in the movie was nicely placed. Tommy Lee Jones, while I think was good in the movie, was my least favorite part, I was sitting there thinking this is TLJ, not who he was portraying and half expected him to pull out some MIB gadget in the House of Reps. The rest of the Congressment kept me in the movie better .... I also thought Spader and Harris were quite good.
