I watched the Death Wish V BD last night with Talbot's commentary.

If you own any Bronson movies that have a Talbot commentary, it is 100% worth listening to.

I loved all the nuggets he shared about the production of this movie and how cheap it was made for. He said DW 5's budget was about $5M total and was made in Toronto for the Canadian tax breaks. Also, the majority of the actors and production crew were local Canadian hires.

and it was only released in about 240+ U.S. theaters. It made most of it's money overseas.

Talbot did say at the end that Menahem Golan wanted to do another Death Wish movie and it would have had a new lead with Bronson maybe making a cameo. But, that completely fizzled out. Thank God.

I haven't listened to that one yet!

I need to make time for it.

My new Death Wish 2 4K arrived in the mail a few days ago and I started going through it last night.

The audio commentary by Paul Talbot is the same one from the Shout Factory version. I listened to about 1/2 of it and as I already said previously, he's a really good commentator. He's probably more knowledgeable about the series and Bronson than if Michael Winner was still alive to do a commentary. Talbot said the movie was made for about $2.5M and Bronson's fee was $1.5M. The infamous rape scene with the maid made me squirm. Talbot did provide a lot of good information about it and how one of the actors got sick to his stomach after the scene and threw up. The actress who played the maid was really crying during the scene.

The new 4K picture is really solid. But for the average joe, he or she may not be able to tell the difference.

I will say this. The new extras that I watched from Vinegar Syndrome are kind of crappy. They interviewed Robin Sherwood, who played Bronson's daughter. She's 70 now and looks pretty good for her age, But, the interview really sucked. She cannot speak at all and paused a lot and stuttered. I had to turn it off about 1/2 way in as it was barely watchable.

They also interviewed the writer and he speaks a lot better than Sherwood, but the interview felt heavily edited and then just abruptly ends. I thought it was funny when he mentioned how Menahem Golan approached him about writing the movie and he initially flat out refused.
