And who defines good actors and bad actors? I think we should leave that up to Ebert, he seems pretty level-headed and informed on the subject.

And furthermore, you can't use that "Who are you to judge him" comment, Bible Boy. I've seen your past posts. How do you know I'm not a policeman from Virginia? Eh? You think that's not judgemental saying that "I like to be sneeky and wait around all day for speedsters as my livelihood?" Hypocrate.
You honestly think that you will get that story "Wilson was fixing his roof, fell on a saw, cut his wrist, took a lot of pain killers to ease the pain as he was frantically calling for help?" Come on...he tried to do something stupid.

Hopefully he's able to battle these demons, find out people really do care about him, and get through it.

The first thing I thought of was Ritchie Tenenbaum.
Yeah, because actors aren't people or anything like that...
A good actor, a bad actor, or not even an actor at all, when someone attempts suicide or succeeds at it, it's a sad thing.
I do consider myself an Owen Wilson fan. I've loved all the work he has done with Wes Anderson.
I consider this sad news.

If someone is truly that unhappy with themselves and the life they have created, and chose to exit this state of being of their own validity; I have no problem with that.
It is in no way a pathetic, nor is it entirely sad. Granted, it is a bit selfish, due simply to the emotional turmoil that will surround the surviving members of one's life. But to brand someone a coward or anything to that effect is just not true.
Suicide is viewed in a very poor light in most cultures. When someone dies in a manner not related to suicide, most people of a religious faith believe them to be going to a realm far removed from the anguish of this life. I believe that the taking of one's life to, essentially, speed up that process is one that should be embraced and not viewed upon with the pontification of shame and digust that it currently holds.
Death is inevitable. I cannot bring blame upon anyone opting to bow out early. If you feel as though there is little cause to continue your existance, why be forced into maintaining a lie?
We are who we are. We choose what we choose; be it life, or an end by thine own hand...

You can by all appearances lead a normal, well balanced life and then suddenly be overcome with a desire to extinguish your life.
One close friend was a very talented artist in her 20s.
Another has tried several times to end her life and the last time took an overdose that should have succeeded except that she left her windows open in the winter and when found her body temp had dropped so dangerously low that the drugs weren't fully absorbed; she was in a coma for days but has "recovered". Drug overdoses are not to be scoffed at, so many people die just from absorbing too much during recreational usage.
I feel sorry for him and hope that he recovers.
