Bowman had exhaled in space due to the pressure imbalance. The universe had jumped on his chest. He was surviving on blood oxygen content.

Since this thread started, I've seen some more perfect movies.

Tokyo Story
Bob Le Flambeur
Sita Sings the Blues
No Country for Old Men

2 ludicrous events in the opening half hour hurt it's perfect rating.

I would not change a thing about The Godfather or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Why do so many people want to stick "Quest" into the title of this movie?

It's just "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

The only thing I would change about The Godfather is I would have included a reconciliation scene between Michael (Pacino) and the rest of his family, especially with Don Vito, once he returns to America after his needed exile in Italy. It makes for a nice passage in the Puzo novel(which I never thought was that great overall) but a scene between Pacino and Brando after not having seen each over in well over a year could have been great in the film.

Raiders of the Lost Ark I wouldn't change a single frame of. Nor Jaws.

Misinformed young'uns, or maybe just huge fans of the PC video game.

For Raiders, I would take out the whole beginning and the whole end, and just leave the middle.

For Jaws, I would remove the three-man boat ride to catch the shark.

I'M KIDDING!!! I'M KIDDING!!!!

This thread certainly shows one thing. People seem to be confused about what 'perfect' means.

I don't think there is a perfect film, but even being loose with the term does not explain the vast majority of selections in this thread.

Either people only watch shit most of the time, thereby making any good films they've seen seem elite or people are not paying attention to the films they are watching.

I really don't know about most of the choices on here. Now having said that, 'Saw IV' really shows what film can be about!

You "Movie-Elitist!" Are you trying to tell us that Howard the Duck and Ishtar aren't perfect movies?
Spoiler:
perfectly bad

I'm so glad there's so much Raiders love. There's just not a second that isn't awesome. Like they see the translator it's like "take back one kadam," then my personal favorite shot ever with the ceiling fan. Translating ancient text shouldn't be a great scene it just is. When Indy's at the bar is should be cliched but when everyone pulls out guns and Salah's kids come in it's such a smooth transition from a mourning badass to back to work. When Indy gets from the freighter to the sub again it should be dumb or slow the plot to explain how he does it but instead a 5 second shot makes me and the crew cheer. And it's got the best ending ever when even some of my all time faves like The Dark Knight and Pulp Fiction just run out of plot.

And let's not forget the score for Raiders. Perfect in itself.

It may have a different meaning to everyone.
This is a pretty good definition that someone posted in another website.

One that truly express the essence of human life and emotion.

Seriously? Because I haven't seen a lot of worthwhile Hollywood remakes of great foreign films.

Comedy is so highly subjective but Ferris Bueller's Day Off is pure fun. Great movie.

This is Spinal Tap is about as perfect a film as I know of.

There isn't a line in that film that doesn't work.

Yes, seriously. It's very much worth seeing. BTW Neil Jordan isn't 'Hollywood'. ;)

Oh yeah, a perfect comedy would be 'The In-Laws', 'Midnight Run', or 'Airplane!'.

one of the opening scenes when Bardem is arrested. The cop is alone in the station...he seats Bardem unrestrained with his hands handcuffed in front instead of behind so Anton is free to do anything he wants...and to make matters even worse, the cop decides to sit down 10 feet in front of him, with his back turned to Bardem while blabbering on the phone. I was saying WTF...I was shocked that the Coen Brothers would stage such an unbelievable and totally unrealistic scene...no cop in his right mind would ever do something so stupid.

The other is Brolin's asinine decision to bring water to the gunshot victim in the middle of the night. One of the most illogical acts ever committed in a movie....I don't think I need to explain the stupidity/unreality of that scene.

Big and Mr. Mom are pretty perfect comedies too. Also, An American Werewolf in London.

P.S.-A good portion of those movies you listed are great but Dennis the Menace?

I believe Spottedfeather's Godfather hatred has been well-documented on this forum :)
