The only thing I would change about The Godfather is I would have included a reconciliation scene between Michael (Pacino) and the rest of his family, especially with Don Vito, once he returns to America after his needed exile in Italy. It makes for a nice passage in the Puzo novel(which I never thought was that great overall) but a scene between Pacino and Brando after not having seen each over in well over a year could have been great in the film. Raiders of the Lost Ark I wouldn't change a single frame of. Nor Jaws. |

This thread certainly shows one thing. People seem to be confused about what 'perfect' means.
I don't think there is a perfect film, but even being loose with the term does not explain the vast majority of selections in this thread. Either people only watch shit most of the time, thereby making any good films they've seen seem elite or people are not paying attention to the films they are watching. I really don't know about most of the choices on here. Now having said that, 'Saw IV' really shows what film can be about! |

I'm so glad there's so much Raiders love. There's just not a second that isn't awesome. Like they see the translator it's like "take back one kadam," then my personal favorite shot ever with the ceiling fan. Translating ancient text shouldn't be a great scene it just is. When Indy's at the bar is should be cliched but when everyone pulls out guns and Salah's kids come in it's such a smooth transition from a mourning badass to back to work. When Indy gets from the freighter to the sub again it should be dumb or slow the plot to explain how he does it but instead a 5 second shot makes me and the crew cheer. And it's got the best ending ever when even some of my all time faves like The Dark Knight and Pulp Fiction just run out of plot.

The other is Brolin's asinine decision to bring water to the gunshot victim in the middle of the night. One of the most illogical acts ever committed in a movie....I don't think I need to explain the stupidity/unreality of that scene. |
