As much as I truly love DS9, even I can say it was perfect. But the characters definitely became like friends to me. |
Raiders
Aliens The Matrix Breakfast Club Lethal Weapon Die Hard Titanic Braveheart Shawshank Rear Window |
Boogie Nights is my favorite film of all time and it is perfect in my eyes. Others I would add include:
Jaws Goodfellas The Godfather The Godfather 2 The Empire Strikes Back Run Lola Run Raiders of the Lost Ark Traffic Requiem for a Dream |

I'll go with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Raiders is the first thing that came to mind. |

I dont see why a comedy cant be one of the best films ever made, but i guess it depends on your taste, i mean people in france think that jerry lewis is a comedic genius. Although i am starting to think that the reason why the fench love lewis so much is because they see him as a symbol of everything wrong with america- brash, overzelous, and idiotic. Sort of how we in america like pepe la pieu(the cartoon of the french skunk who is pompous, overbearing, skirtchasing asshole). |
oh and i just read people talking about star trek ds9. wow i never liked that series much, and i am a sci fi nerd. But again, to each his own.
A few other films that came to mind: hard boiled ran children of men delicatessen the dinner game fargo south park the movie citizen kane the harry potter films. braveheart There were perfectly executed, they are all excellent. flawless films. Probably more that i am forgetting. Almost all of the ones people mentioned are flawless as well |
With regards to Raiders of the Lost Ark being perfect--
Don't you think Karen Allen is a little weak? ...as an actress. How about Meryl Streep or Kathleen Turner as Marion. |

People are talking about raiders of the lost ark being perfect. I liked the movie, but i would not call it flawless. I thought much of it was formulaic. I forgot chinatown top hat mullholland drive requiem of a dream |
Re: A "Perfect" movie
Magnolia - Perhaps not a "perfect" movie (as I believe that is unattainable), but highly satisfying and moving to me.

One more not mentioned...Some Like it Hot

Re: A "Perfect" movie
I would have to agree for a modern sensibility "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is the most perfect movie I have seen.
For comedies, I would add" "Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House" -just perfect and truly real in every way. |

Are there any movies you feel shouldn't be subject to people's opinions and should just be in a class of their own? Movies that you feel so strongly about that if someone were to say they didn't like them, you would question his/her intelligence?

Re: A "Perfect" movie
Magnolia IS a perfect movie...
...for me to poop on! My pick for this thread, is actually a television show. But if you play all the episodes back to back they work together like a great extended film. That show is Lost. |
