No, he's calling people on Facebook idiots, which means basically everyone. But it's Dragon Tattoo and we all know that deep down he's a flower child, so we let it slide.

Re: The Hobbit
I just shared my plan to see Hobbit twice, once in regular 3D, and once in HFR , with my parents. I honestly think that trying to explain the reasoning behind would be a lost cause. Not that it matters, but I just feel that major film geeks might have somewhat of a disconnect with the general moviegoing public.

Re: The Hobbit
I'm glad to hear that some people like the HFR 48 frames version, so I'll just assume it is my own problem to overcome... Saw this today in 24 frames and thought it was SO MUCH BETTER than the 48 version I saw 10 days ago. I didn't have to adjust, I was never pulled out of the movie by the motion and the 3D looked fine...all the special effects felt so much more like a movie, and less like a videogame cutscene, which was all I could think of in 48fps.
Love the movie on a second viewing - yeah it's 20 minutes too long, but it's got so much good stuff in it that I can forgive the PJ padding.

Re: The Hobbit
That is my feeling as well. After watching the whole thing, I could only come up with 15-20 minutes of "padding" that could be trimmed, but even those portions were visually delightful, so I'm not too put off by them.

What's starting to piss me off about the reviews is that many seem to say it's entertaining once it gets moving, and are overall entertained. However, when they rate it they give it 2 1/2 stars instead of three. Basically, they want it to register as a bad review despite the fact that overall they liked it. Almost like trying to say "Liked it, but it's a bit long, so Fuck Peter Jackson, 2 1/2 stars."
I just read Peter Travers' review and he spends a good amount of time praising the movie and its performances as well as the fun nature, but he seems to let the fact that it takes too long to get going affect the overall rating.

Re: The Hobbit
so dare I ask where you saw it, or will you ream me a new asshole ...
I saw this on Regal's RPX screen in Alexandria - the HFR presentation was sharp as a tack, but did a look a tad too video-esque.

Re: The Hobbit
The third film has been pushed back to December 17, 2014, meaning each film opens about a year after the previous, similar to LOTR:

I think it's a good move. The year gaps didn't hurt LOTR any, and it seemed like they were rushing the 3rd movie previously to open it in the summer, especially as it was added so late during the production of the films.

Just attended a livestream consisting of a virtual Q&A with Jackson and a bit of a look at the new movie. While it looks impressive, if your problem was with expansion and bloat, I can already tell this one is going to do more of the same.

Re: The Hobbit
I thought all the footage they showed looked awesome - they are definitely expanding the story and fleshing a lot of stuff out. I'm sure it's not going to win over those who hated the first but I am fucking pumped for this one now, even more than I was 2 hours ago
