My idea is simple: Put a "Delete this thread" button in the first post. If a certain number of people click that button, the thread is deleted.

You still didn't describe the event in the post. Yes, you have a link but folks shouldn't have to click on a link to know what the hell it is you are talking about.

Put down a location, an event, a time, a place in the thread. Let alone this information should have been in the thread title.
