Can anyone name serious, non-G-rated kiddy movies, which have a child in the lead?

Can anyone name serious, non-kiddy movies, which have a child (younger than 13) in the lead? I'm not talking about horror movies. I'm mainly talking about good dramas with a child in the lead. I ask because there are a lot of good kid actors, but they always have to be in some kiddy, G-rated, Disney, Nickelodian movies. Here are the ones that I can think of:

PAN'S LABYRINTH
BLAME IT ON FIDEL
HOUNDDOG (with Dakota Fanning)
THE PROFESSIONAL (with Natalie Portman)
BUGSY MALONE (yes, it's G-rated, but it's one of the best mobster movies ever made)
MY LIFE AS A DOG
LITTLE OTIK
LA TETE Y LO LUNA
CITY OF LOST CHILDREN

I vaguely feel like I've seen tons of foreign movies with kids starring in the lead in serious, R-rated type films. It's the American ones I can't think of.

Soderberg's "King of the Hill"

There's a movie that takes place in England during World War 2, seen through a eyes of a kid who doesn't know what's going on and has the best time with all the bombs going off and no school etc. It bugs me I can't remember what it's called.

Ponette. 4 year old Victoire Thivisol is absolutely phenomenal. I think she won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival that year.
