Apparently, there's no set release date yet and no trailer.

Fitting considering her role in the Girl Next Door had similar traits to Ji-hyun Jun's character in My Sassy Girl.

I wonder if the movie will be as effective if we know the "twist" at the end?

Unlike movies in the vein of The Sixth Sense, My Sassy Girlfiend didn't rely on the "twist" at the end to make the movie, it just added a little. The rest of the movie was a blast, even without it.

Yeah, but she was such a delight to watch, I'll have a very hard time seeing Elisha in that role.

Agreed. Horrible casting, IMO.

Wow! She's dreamy!

I always wanted to see My Sassy Girl. I guess this remake means we'll get an R1 release finally?

I think Elisha could pull this role off. Really interested in seeing this remake.

Alrighty, so I was just researching the original My Sassy Girl to see if an import Blu-ray was available that would work on a US PS3 (doesn't look like there is one btw), and I just found a lot of stuff about the remake. I have no clue how I've missed all of this for all these weeks/months, but here you go.

It's actually going direct to DVD on 8/26/08, and you can pre-order it at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/My-Sassy-Girl-...2948746&sr=8-2

And finally, here's the actual trailer:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VXsMTxrsQR4&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VXsMTxrsQR4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Like we all expected, they took everything that made the original so different and charming, and seemingly decided to release "cliche romantic comedy #438938430".

The only reason I was wanting it to actually hit theaters is because I was hoping of a great R1 release of the original with some English special features. Oh well.

When I first heard about this project, I had hoped that it will be at least okay when compared to the original. Then I saw the youtube trailer and all my hopes were dashed. I'm just glad that somebody at 20th Century Fox had the foresight of sending this remake straight to DVD.

In regards to the original, I don't think that we will ever see a proper release in R1.

Holy cow, does that trailer SUCK! The Jun Ji Hyun character was attractive in spite of her antics, not because of them.

So, I guess the best DVD version remains the Korean release with the close-captioned style subtitles and poor grammar? What a pity. Still, this is one of my personal all time favorites.

And that really is a shame. Except for Kino and New Yorker the only stateside Korean releases are of the "Asian Extreme" denomination which is freaking (< insert other F word) ridiculous ... and unfortunate.

As Il Mare, My Sassy Girl, The Classic and a variety of other Korean ..and Japanese titles could do really well over here. Wonder what that says about how the studios think Americans really are ........ ?

The remake's already out on DVD in a few countries, if you're still morbidly interested.

I'm trying to watch this now, but finding it impossible. 12 or so minutes into the movie, there's a line, "This is trouble" by the roommate and I thought, no kidding.

The "From the people who brought you My Big Fat Greek Wedding" banner on the DVD should have been a big red flag.

Spoiler:
She was the girl the main character is suppose to meet at the beginning of the story.

BTW, this remake is horrible. Go watch the original instead.
