Most unbelievable movie character resurrection

Inspired by the news that Dennis Hopper's Howard Payne character may be back for Speed 3, I'd like to know what are the most bizzare, brazen, and generally unbelievable instances of a movie character coming back from the dead, as it were, in a movie sequel (not prequel).

I can think of a few movie characters that have returned from the dead, but none of them are really surprising/unbelievable given the context of the film(s) and the (lack of) confirmation of the death(s):

Spoiler:

- Captain Barbossa in POTC: DMC
- Jean Grey / Phoenix in X3
- Whistler in Blade II
- Gandalf in LOTR:TTT
- Ahnuld in T2

There is absolutely, positively, 100% no chance (none), that Howard Payne survived that.

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking it's probably a prequel. But if it's not. Wow. Just wow.

yeah Im thinking that if Hopper is in speed 3 he will be Howard Payne's twin brother...
i guesst they could go the die hard 3 route where the brother wants revenge.
mad bombers run in the family i guess.

Same goes for Alien Resurrection. The Ripley in that movie was a human/alien hybrid they created.

It did happen in the dreamworld though so it could be explained as he wasn't dead to begin with.

There is absolutely nothing that can beat Jason Vorhees being resurrected when the coroner decides to literally eat his black heart in Jason Goes to Hell ....

My friends and I were laughing for minutes when we first saw this.

Perfect call. What a shameless, transparent and manipulative move by Spielberg.

Unless it turns out that it was actually the twin brother who died in Speed.

Either way, it's incredibly lame.

It's funny, cause it's true.

I think Jason takes the cake for the most unbelievable resurrection. Freddy would take second based on the fact that in Freddy vs Jason he got his head cut off and when Jason was holding it, He winked.
I'd also say Chucky but he's sort of a special case.

What the heck was Spielberg thinking. Seriously.

I don't get it. I watch Schindler's List, SPR, etc and I am thinking... "this is a MASTER CRAFTSMAN". And then he makes War of the Worlds and lets that kid return.

What-the-

This was the first thing that came to mind for me...except it doesn't meet the "in a sequel" criteria. In my mind, though, that makes it even worse.

Say...what about that Starman character?!? Huge explosion and he comes walking out of the fire, I mean come ON! What are you, some friggin alien?!?

Also...the return of Jenny Hayden (sp?).

While I'm on it....what about this Jesus character? Oh yeah, the son of god/he is god thing. Ok, well what about Lazarus, HUH!?!? He's neither god nor the son of god! WHAT ABOUT THAT?!?!?!

Sorry bout that.....

It pays to be a friend of god.
