Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium

This movie looks sooooo awesome, like Charlie and Chocolate Factory meets Arrested Development by way of Toys. 'Bout time Natalie Portman made another movie. I'm already in line for this baby.

I love everything Nat's done. This looks like another winner.

I dunno, I'm picking up a heavy "Lemony Snicket" vibe, which I hated. Also, I'm not sure if it's just me, but it feels like the trailer is exposing too much of the plot, which also doesn't strike me as a good sign.

Rhyming Title: Awesome
Natalie Portman: Awesome-r
Dustin Hoffman: Awesome-st

Jason Bateman: Unfortunately, the presence of Bateman brings the movie down a rung for me. Aside from Arrested Development, I have yet to see him in any role in which I find him even remotely funny.

For me, I believe he is the Jerry Seinfeld of Arrested Development. Surrounded by others, he brings the straight-laced character to the show. On his own, however, in other films... Not so much with "the funny."

Maybe it was the mention of "Toys" in the 1st post but that trailer looks awful. I agree with the Jason Batement comment and I don't think Portman can pull off comedy (at least not if that trailer is any indication).

The trailer really didn't do anything for me despite being big fans of all three primary cast members. I don't know what it is but it just looks kinda weak.

Is this the sequel to The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel?

Along with "Goya's Ghosts" and "My Blueberry Nights", this is shaping up to be quite a year for Ms. Portman.

I like everyone involved and was waiting to see what Zach Helm would do after Stranger Than Fiction, but this movie looks brutal... even the trailer was terrible to me and usually I'm up for flicks like this... I'll skip it - looks like the 'Nanny McPhee' of this year.

I don't think it looks too bad. And the script must have been pretty good in order to attract Natalie Portman and Dustin Hoffman for a first time director.

I saw Goya's Ghosts and it was okay but nothing special. I think Mr. Magorium's Emporium will be much better.

This trailer practicaly gave me a headache when I saw it in theaters. I like Hoffman, but this one just looks lame. I could be wrong, but it looks like it's a pale imitator of Willy Wonka and other such fare.

Or they saw dollar signs for an easy-to-shoot production. Can't imagine it took a lot of on-set time for something like this.

I disagree with both of those accounts. They are both very funny on their respective shows, and have incredible comedic timing. It's just not as over the top as their costars, which makes them seem not as funny, or atleast not stand out. But the more I watch each series I notice how funny these two actors actually are. So, neither of them is really the straight man, just straighter than their costars.

Despite the comparison to the absolute worst movie ever made, I think MMWE looks okay. Kind of like Night at the Museum. And Natalie Portman is cute as always.

Giles and Fanboy are both wrong; it's a sequel to "The Splendiferous Zeppelin Escapades of Filliam H. Muffman"

I am actually amazed this movie isn't based on a children's book.

The first time I saw the trailer, I thought to myself "I guess this is a movie for fans of the book, because I can't see how it got made otherwise."

So I'm still confused about it. It looks like it's trying to be "whimsical" and landing directly on "off-putting".
