I thought it was total bullshit having Webe's video discredited because there were no witnesses and yet when Mitchell sends his video in later everyone bows down in worship to kiss his ass. It's also crap that he wouldn't compete in public. A god complex and a coward, quality attributes right there. The doc definitely played them up, but they're there to begin with.

Yeah, that whole submitted video thing was truly bizarre and Wiebe went through heck to just get consideration - I don't think the doc played up anything there.

After watching this, I thought Billy was maybe just a has-been protecting his rep or a fella who just prefers (cheats?) to do his record-setting now in privacy. But apparently, he still rips it up in public; I just guess it has to be at his discretion - without exception.

one of my favorite moments was at the very end when Steve finally corrects the Twin Galaxies guy on the pronunciation of his last name.

he's so damn nice and polite that they call him 'Weeb' throughout the whole thing and then even when he corrects them it's in a nice way

i also thought the parts where he was playing the drums were really cool. he's a pretty great drummer

Truth. Billy's ol' lady had some badass knockers.

Same way I saw it. That 'ref' is a complete douche. I'm surprised he could get Billy's balls out of his mouth long enough to tell everyone of the upcoming kill screen.

^ Plus the fact that he'd call Billy on the phone to update him on every move Steve made.

Did anyone one see the update after this aired on G4?

Apparently, Bill has the record for Pac-Man also. You have to eat every fruit and blue gost without loosing a man. Then on the last screen that is only half visible, there are 8 or 9 dots that you have to eat on the side of the screen that is messed up (only half of those are visiable, the other half you can't even see). Then you let pacman die and the screen comes back with those 8 or 9 dots again. Repeat until you are out of men.
You die before the last screen and you fall 8 or 9 points short of the perfect score. How freakin' hard is that?

I watched the a few months ago and did anyone else see similar occurrences between the film and the "More Crap" episode of South park. For some reason that is all i could think about after i watched king of kong.

And there's no way Billy would ever agree to be in that. He claims he hasn't even seen King of Kong, and objects to the way he was portrayed. (Although I'm not sure how you can object to something you haven't actually seen.)

Twin Galaxies are Billy's lap dogs so I would think there is a lot of biased information there.

I still love this movie, just watched it yesterday with a friend who hadn't seen it. I love introducing it to people who haven't seen it before.

Re: The King of Kong - A Fistful of Quarters

Four of us just watched it this morning at work - thanks Netflix!

Fantastic film. ***** out five stars.

We all enjoyed the hell out of it.

Steve Wiebe is the man.

Billy Mitchell is an epic douche-bag.

This is one of those films that I would buy just to loan to people who haven't seen it.

Re: The King of Kong - A Fistful of Quarters

No, he came up short...

First try he got to 923,400 I believe.
Second was only 600 something.
Third was interrupted by power outage.
And his last got to 980 something and then he hit the kill screen

So no record for him yet....I really hope he gets it back.

Re: The King of Kong - A Fistful of Quarters

His last try, he got to 989,400. The consensus seemed to be that Wiebe knew he wasn't gonna get it at some point near the end of his last run so he just went to get the kill screen. Disappointing, but there will be other chances in the future...

And Steve got the Donkey Kong Jr. record a few weeks back, I believe.

I also thought this was a great documentary. I'm glad I stumbled across it.
