Actually, that contraption they used to open the gate to the house in The Goonies was the first thing I thought of, but I'm not sure that's technically a machine.

Remember the movie Brainstorm? They had a machine that would record a person's experiences so someone else could relive 'em. I thought that was pretty cool...especially the guy that had the sex act on a continuous loop.
