I read on IMDB that this movie had a lot of re-writes after a rough cut was completed almost a year or so ago and that most of the new stuff was done by The Wachowski Brothers and the V For Vendetta director James McTiegue. Should make it interesting to watch.

My friend went to an advance screening and said it sucked. He didn't really go into detail, just said it was obvious that reshoots were made to assist it and they felt awkward.

The trailer is actually pretty solid and makes me want to see it.

However, early reviews for this are beyond terrible and Warner is going to have to market the hell out of it if they want to see this make any money.

It's disappointing that this is supposedly so bad. It looks great.

Another version is not surprising given that this story has tended to get remade about every 15-20 years or so (and just the general "people taken over" basic plot gets reused even more often than that). I just wonder what the subtext for the "Pod People" will be this time? Neo-Con Bushies, perhaps?

People still want to see Nicole Kidman in movies?

I think plain and simple the horror genre & Sci-Fi genre has just plain run out ideas. Horror movies are worse off though, The only thing original thats been good in the last 5 years has been the Saw movies & Hostel was half decent but nothing to great, & Hostel: Part 2 is apparently a piece of garbage movie but I haven't seen it yet so I'll have to wait for the DVD release.

Oh & Daniel Craig is in this movie just to top things off.

I might buy this movie on DVD if its any good but & I am in the minority here but I didn't even think Invasion of the Body Snatchers was that great in the first place.

I remember them doing some shooting on this movie locally about 2 years ago. So that's not a good sign that it's still being worked on. Given that it's from the director who did Downfall, I'm actually pretty intrigued. Yet with the delay, I expect it to suck.

Veronica Cartwright is a nice touch but I loved Kevin McCarthy's cameo in the '78 version.

They're everywhere!!!

What's wrong with Nicole Kidman? When the director and script are good, she's great. The most recent article I read about "The Invasion" was that it wasn't scary. Doesn't make it a bad movie, just not effective. We'll see. I'll love all three of the previous "Body Snatchers" movies so I will most likely see this one too. As far as the horror movie genre, you are correct. However, I wouldn't even classify the "Saw" movies as scary. They're just graphic violence. No suspense at all. Well produced movies for sure, but that's about it IMO.

Eh. Looks like basically another zombie movie. Just instead of dead people, it has aliens in bodies. Pass. Never say 'Body Snatchers' if that is what it is like but to me, just a variation on a zombie movie.

I never said the Saw movies were Scary, actually horror movies nowadays arn't scary, Some are so bad there scary but thats about it.
I don't hate Nicole Kidman or anything, I loved her in "The Others" & other films but I just don't here as much about her as I used too, I would love to hear about her more than that god damn Paris Hilton.

So I broke down and rented this on Blu, it's one of those instances where you can tell the exact moment they decided to stop using the original directors work. It goes from strained acting (common with non-English directors) and slowly paranoid to super quick cut and well, cheesy, in the blink of an eye.

I can see how the original test screenings went:

Questionnaire: Not exciting enough.
Studio head 1: Not exciting enough, call the Wachowskis in.
Studio head 2: And Car Chases!
Wachowskis: We'll have our underling do it, this movie needs more car chases! CAR CHASES!
James McTeigue: CAAAR CHASES!!

Me too. I also thought she was quite good in "The Golden Compass" and can't wait for "Australia".
