I'm kind of annoyed it looks like the Sept. dates don't include DC since according to NPR.org The Frames have already had a DC date in April - dang it!

The Frames visit Washington, D.C. for a full concert, originally webcast live on NPR.org Apr. 26, 2007.
03 september 2007 :: bumbershoot festival, seattle, wa

05 september 2007 :: great american music hall, san francisco, ca

06 september 2007 :: henry fonda theatre, los angeles, ca

08 september 2007 :: hideout, chicago

10 september 2007 :: webster hall, new york, ny

NPR Live

according to this link 'The Swell Season' 9:30 gig will also be broadcast online NPR:

http://www.theframes.ie/v4/news/date...wellseason.php

for anyone going to the 9:30 Club show the tix price is great - 15 bucks however it's a seated show...

This may be worth a trip back down to DC. I haven't been to 9:30 in a few years, I didn't know they could do seated shows.

I've been wanting to see this since it came out a couple months ago, but it wasn't playing around me. Actually heard the soundtrack first, a few weeks ago, and fell in love with it.

The film finally opened up in my neck of the woods this week. Checked it out tonight--good stuff. It was pretty much what I was expecting, from the reviews I had read, but what I wasn't expecting was how absolutely adorable Marketa Irglova was gonna be. Cute as all get out.

Sweet, small little picture.

Just got back from seeing this. Far from a perfect movie, but I enjoyed it very, very much.

After having the soundtrack for about a month, the movie finally opened near me. Not in the greatest theater, really lousy picture, they kept trying to adjust it during the previews.

Anyways I loved the movie, Soundtrack was great. the cast and everything was about perfect.

Can't join the lovefest on this one. . .

Several of the songs were pretty good, but it just felt like a wisp of a story built around them. And I just didn't care that much about the characters. . .did not feel emotionally moved by the ending whatsoever.

Finally got to see this tonight, and immensely enjoyed it. I don't know if it was the print of the film, or the projectionist, but the film I saw was really out of focus.

Spoiler:
How was guy able to afford the piano? Was it marked down? I saw a sign on the piano, but I couldn't make it out.

It was the movie itself. Camera was shaky too.

I saw this with a friend over the weekend. It was playing in an old movie theater that plays only 2 movies. There were less than 10 people in the audience on a Saturday night. I was seriously underwhelmed. The songs were just OK. Problem was the story. There really wasn't much of a plot and like another poster mentioned, I didn't care too much about the characters. My friend enjoyed it and loved the music however. He wanted to rush out and buy the soundtrack. Different strokes.

Saw this tonight. The university runs free screenings of foreign films on Sundays and they had this. It looks like it was shot on a camcorder at times. I'll be happy to buy the DVD, don't need the (non-existent) Blu-Ray for this one.

So, the movie touched me in a lot of scenes (especially the one where he's writing a song while looking for inspiration on his laptop) and the music was great, but I just don't get adulation for it. I really, really liked it and it's probably my favorite musical of all time but I hate musicals. This didn't "feel" like one to me at least.

Still in my top ten for the year, but not "one of this decade's best" as I've heard some critics say.

Saw this tonight and loved it. Not much of a story (on one of the featurettes, the director admittedly said you could write it on a postcard), but great music.

This, on the official site, makes me scratch my head:
