Substitute Return of the Jedi in for The Phantom Menace in the CHUD write-up on TPM and they captured my level of disappointment in the Summer of 1983 pretty well. That was the year Lucas' "spell" over me was broken.

(I know ROTJ is a better movie than TPM, but level-of-disappointment-wise, ROTJ is way ahead of TPM because it came after ANH and TESB *and* the Lucas/Spielberg collaboration Raiders of the Lost Ark, so pre-Summer 1983 it seemed Lucas could do no wrong. How wrong we were.)

The real test will be whether the CHUD losers have the balls to include anything written by Shane Salerno or directed by Jan de Bont.

That's the screenwriter/director team on their crappy "Meg" project that they'll never get off the ground and in the old days they'd bash on them openly but now they just kiss their asses.
Check it out! I'd be willing to bet money that "Alien vs. Predator" is a top-5 cinematic disappointment for the vast majority of fans of either franchise and IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE THE LIST.

Like I said, NOTHING written by Shane Salerno or directed by Jan de Bont made the list! How do these CHUD losers get away with such bullshit?

The AICN guys have been caught on a couple of conflicts of interest but I've never seen anything on any of the high-profile geeky internet news sites that even comes close to the complete ass-kissery that goes on between CHUD and the crappy filmmakers making their crappy movie.

They ruthlessly bashed Salerno and de Bont pre-"Meg" and now it's like there's a site-wide ban on even mentioning them.

What Jan de Bont films had a lot of hype and proved to be disappointing?

Speed 2 was disappointing, although I don't remember a ton of hype.
