TGM 05-16-07 05:15 PM

uh...

bad casting choice... Hitman needs a harder edged face... Bruce Willis!

jiggawhat 05-16-07 05:16 PM

yea he looks like a little kid.

Seantn 05-16-07 05:19 PM

Can you put a link to the pics? They're not showing up for me.

Ronnie Dobbs 05-16-07 05:45 PM

I agree, I think he's a bad casting choice even though I engoyed him in "Go" and "Scream 2". Vin Diesel or Jason Strathem are ideal in this type of role.

Apone 05-16-07 06:47 PM

Woah... He's in a disguise right?

Rogue588 05-16-07 07:07 PM

Is this based on the Ennis comicbook? :hscratch:

dek 05-16-07 07:38 PM

No pics on the site either, I cut and pasted the links, says files not found.

ChefWinduAZ 05-16-07 07:46 PM

Yeah, looks like the site took down the pics. Sorry guys. For those that didn't see it, he does not look good as the charcter. He looks like a kid going trick or treating as the "Hitman".

dek 05-16-07 07:48 PM

Found em

Also, Timothy Olyphant fucking rocks. Do not let the pictures fool you, go out and rent Deadwood Season 1-3, I believe he will nail the part.

edit - he also is the latest villian in the upcoming Die Hard movie, have read he is one, if not the best Die Hard villian to date.

No, it is based on a video game.

Linn1 05-16-07 08:29 PM

Yup,

Agreed. He ALWAYS looks different when no on camera. It's really strange actually.

Mondo Kane 05-16-07 08:29 PM

At least Diana's kinda cute. -wink-

project86 05-16-07 10:07 PM

He doesn't fit, but the fact that it's not directed by Uwe Boll means it actually has a chance.

Brent L 05-16-07 10:35 PM

Have any of you read the script yet?

The Bus 05-16-07 10:35 PM

Oh THAT guy. The drug dealer from Go, right?

PopcornTreeCt 05-16-07 11:08 PM

I can't believe they didn't go with Jason Statham. It's just mindboggling.

Artman 05-16-07 11:34 PM

Billy Corgan?

TheMovieman 05-16-07 11:47 PM

I like Timothy Olymphant and will give him a chance but I agree Statham would've been the better choice...

KingSmoth 05-17-07 12:52 AM

Olyphant rocks, but he just doesn't look right to me. I'll reserve judgment until I see the movie though. Statham would have been a great choice...

Indeed, he looks about as badass as a girl scout.

I think we'd all agree that Tim is just not "rough around the edges" enough for this role. He plays "sneaky and slimy" better than he plays "macho and tough". Heck, even his Bullock on DEADWOOD seemed a little shady.

Yavin 05-17-07 08:49 AM

Add me to the list of those people who thinks he doesn't look quite right bald. Who knows, maybe that opinion will change. I wonder if people said the same about Michael Rosenbaum when Smallville first came out. For all I know, he really is bald.

MrE 05-17-07 09:59 AM

I thought he projected some real menace in THE GIRL NEXT DOOR.

james2025a 05-17-07 01:12 PM

I am actually interested in this. I like Timothy Olyphant and think that he really hasn't been given a great role to play yet. The closest he came was the drug dealer in Go. I don't think he looks too bad with the shaved head, and i really like the idea that they are taking someone from the left field who you would not expect to play this role. There were names like Vin Diesal being spoken of for this part, but they were the kind of names that you would expect to play this role. I think the story and the action will be the important aspects here in order for the movie to succeed. I think Olyphant will pull the role off.

Funny just reading the posts about Statham. He actually does have the perfect look for the role. The only problem i can see that he has practically played the part already in the two Transporter movies.

I don't think it's the fact that that's what he looks like bald that's making it look like he wouldn't work as The Hitman.
I think it's the fact that he looks like that bald and is having a shitload of fun at a Con that's giving that impression. I'm sure he can do other facial expressions when he wants to.

I hope he does a good job. I like him as an actor.

That's who i was hoping for to play him.

Groucho 05-17-07 02:43 PM

I like Olyphant, but it seems like miscasting to me. What's next, the kid from North as Iggy Pop?

Kudama 05-17-07 02:54 PM

 THAT one boggles the shit out of me!

Yavin 05-17-07 02:59 PM

With all today's CG capabilities, they should just take Patrick Stewart's head and CG it onto Jason Statham's body.

The Bus 05-17-07 05:01 PM

Hitman needs to be played by someone with a little bit more heft than Olyphant. He and Statham are too skinny. Stewart is just a silly suggestion.

I would personally suggest Scott Caan.

Or Nicolas Cage as Al Capone?

DealMan 05-17-07 07:01 PM

I'll reserve judgement until I see something more official. I remember the early shots of Thom Jane as the Punisher and everyone was complaining about how awful he looked. The movie was horrid, but I think most people feel he looked the part in the end. Same thing with Alfred Molina in Spider-man 2. I think Olyphant will do well.

AllHallowsEve 05-17-07 07:05 PM

Why does he have a barcode on his head? I never played these games.

Brent L 05-17-07 07:16 PM

The game (and obviously the movie) is based in the future/an alternate reality, where they actually stock hitmen at stores around the world. That's just his checkout barcode.

Spoiler:
The silencer and sniper rifle must be purchased separately.

I thought most people agreed that Molina was inspired casting?

I'll believe that when I see it, which won't happen. Complete load of marketing bullsh*t.

mndtrp 05-19-07 02:14 AM

I really like Olyphant, and always enjoy seeing him in a movie. Having never played the games, I hope he does a good job.

The "obvious" choice is usually the laziest one.
