I agree. I couldn't believe it when I saw that in the movie.

You know, now that I think about it, James Franco would have made a pretty good Anakin. He's got that whole "dark side lurking under the surface" thing going on.

Plus, he can act!

I beg to differ, his "acting" in Annapolis wasnt anything to write home about.

Clearly, you've never watched "Freaks and Geeks". The man can act.

I like James Franco, but I can admit he's been terrible in some roles. "Flyboys" is another example.

Lucas really hates seeing other films succeed at the box office. If you watch on the Phantom Menace DVD where there is the documentary of the making of and he is talking with Spielberg they discuss Titanic and how much money that made. I guess he has something against other people makin money as well. Typical fucking billionaire.

Also, when was Spiderman in any form really a deep character. I grew with the comics and love them and the movies, but i don't go to see them because i think i will see a deep movie with an intricate storyline. He should look at his own movies before putting other peoples down. The guy truly is an idiot.

I try to forget his role or the entire movie for that matter out of my mind...

This coming from the man who gave us The Phantom Menace? He really should just keep his opinion to himself. He also shelved the "best script since the original Raiders" by Frank Darabont because he didn't get it. The man is an innovator, he is no longer a filmmaker.

Oh come on, that doesn't sound like George Lucas in the slightest: "he said with a wink"? Love how people will throw any kind of quote on the Net and everyone believes it. And the source: FOX News, who also claim Lucas is making two more live action "Star Wars" movies set in the same era. Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.

He was terrible in "Whatever It Takes". Then again, who didn't suck in that movie? And I actually thought Franco wasn't all that good in the first Spider-Man. Way too monotone. Maybe that was intential on Raimi's part. But he did get much better as the series progressed.

Even though it's funny to hear this from HIM, he is right.

It's so obvious that he was joking around, yet anything that comes from Lucas' mouth, will get the geeks and those with "raped childhood" to go apeshit. Hell, I doubt Lucas has seen all those summer films. Context people!

George Lucas' opinion has not been relevant since 1980.

Discuss.

More relevant than anyone's on this board, and that hasn't gotten any of us to shut up either. If I was a guessing man, I'd say Lucas was pulling fanboy's chains again.

It all depends on the material. Even the best of actors give bad performances once in a while.

I'm just going to assume he was joking around. I mean, his best movies have a strong element of the silly. Silly has served him well. He can't be blind to that.

You think? Why else would he have ended by saying "Some people think Stars Wars is silly, but it's not" and adding a wink in there to boot. He's done the same thing a number of times before, and the internet went bonkers.

Lucas needs to go ahead and die already.
Nice!

Hell, "Catwoman" was better than SM3. At least, I got what I expected from that flick.

A reference to an earlier Raimi movie? I didn't understand it.
