edit-Wow. There's a weird synchronicity here. Right before I came in and hit refresh to see if anyone guessed (or knew as is the case) I was outside reading a Bloom County anthology and I was on the story arc of Opus being arrested for being a vigilante. Please go into Power DVD's settings, click the player tab, click the advanced button, click the snapshot tab, and change Capture to File format to JPG (or PNG).

I'll do the operation. Does BMP show up as little red x's or does it just take up more memory.

They're just large, like 1 MB. You could also use VLC to take snapshots. That's what I like to use. VLC defaults to PNG or can be changed to JPG.

You could try this after you've captured a screenshot in My Pictures (or where ever it is):
Right click on the image thumbnail
If edit is now an option then select that
When the edit program opens select Save As
Select JPEG

This may not be available in all versions of PDVD

I honestly don't even know where the screen caps get saved to when I take them. I always paste the screen capture into Microsoft Paint and then just save as JPEG.
