Rudd pulling all the chairs in the hotel room and lining them up was fucking gold. Anyone wondering where his leading roll is must have missed "Overnight Delivery" with Reese Witherspoon. Sure, it was not a huge movie, but very enjoyable and Rudd was great as always. I still think his best roll was in "Wet Hot American Summer". Also, he was in a great little film that Ken Marino wrote that premiered on HDNet Movies last month called "Diggers". All that being said, "The Ten" is still my most eagerly anticipated movie of the summer.

I couldn't agree more. I laughed a few times, but I don't feel this is the comedy classic so many feel it is. I was dumbfounded as to how unnecessarily long this movie was. So many of the scenes could have been shortened or cut all together. I found it more frustrating to watch the entire thing than enjoyable. I myself am surprised at my overall dislike for the film since I am an otherwise decent-sized fan of Apatow.

I'm interested to hear what you feel could've or should've been cut.

I think everything was pretty essential because this film wasn't about the plot to me but the characters. It was like hanging out with friends, and to cut any of the film would be like taking away time with my friends, which is an inconcevieble thing to do.

I could have done without the last 45 minutes. This movie reminded me of the Break-Up(Jennifer Aniston). Both were supposed to be comedies but they ended up being Romantic Dramadies and both movies made me feel uncomfortable. Thats besides the fact that Apatows movies are extremely disjointed. Kicking and Screaming, Talledega Nights, 40 Yr Old Virgin etc there is just something about the way these movies are edited that bugs the crap out of me. There is absolutely no cohesion to the way the movies are presented.

I think it has a lot to do with giving so many side characters so much screen time. It's never enough time to completely flesh them out, but too much because they aren't fleshed out enough. If that makes sense. Kind of a catch-22. I think he's still working in the television mindset where you can develop a dozen minor characters. You just can't do that in a two hour movie.

You are right about Kicking and Screaming. I thought Apatow directed it but he didnt.

Saw this for free, was expecting to be very disappointed as I hated the trailer.

Didn't like it at all the first 45 minutes or so, but it sort of grew on me. Call me a sap, but I kind of liked how it turned into a romantic dramedy. But maybe that is just because I'm in a current relationship that is slightly similar (no sex, but two totally different people falling for each other and not sure why or if it is right).

So overall, I'll give it a solid C or C+, and hope one store has an exclusive bonus disc with it, so that I can add it to my collection.

I just got back from it, and loved it. The director's follow-up to The 40-Year-Old Virgin delivers just as consistently, if not more consistently, with the laughs, and has just as genuinely sweet and true a story. Seth Rogan is very well cast, and Heigl surprised me with her dramatic and comic range. The film is long, but well directed enough with excellent pacing and enough smart and relevant humour that it doesn't feel nearly it's running length. This is one of the best pictures of the year, so far.

Yeah. I saw this last week and...like many other things in the world of pop culture, I just don't get the "classic" label many are annointing this flick with.

I'm easily amused how the last major posts of this thread have been nothing but near negative reviews.

On Tuesday at midnight, I'll be leaving Wal-Mart with a copy of the two-disc set in my hand (along with Halo 3).

It's called the subjective nature of comedy. Some people don't like Airplane or Dumb and Dumber either.

I, myself, didn't care much for Wedding Crashers.

Well, this movie didn't scream "MUST SEE on the big screen" to me. And I was right.

You guys that liked it, that's fine. I'm just stating my opinion the same way you stated yours. It's okay if they're different.

I just chalk it up to Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, et al. using the word as a crutch when they are improvising. A well-placed "fuck" can be comedy gold, as can a string of them when the movie is otherwise clean (see Planes, Trains and Automobiles). This overuse is kind of lazy comedically, IMO.

Still loved the movie, though.

Truth. I only like one of the movies you reference. Hint... the one made in the 70's.

Was it really filmed in the 70s? It had a 1980 release date, they could have rushed it out super fast like, uh uh uh, yeah!!!

I'm gonna go sit in the corner.

i personally didn't like this movie

I found it boring

I can see why many liked it, it gives hopes to ugly fat guys that they can pick up a hottie for a one night stand easily, that is good, hope is good

I actually like the movie because it's one of the few romantic comedies out there that actually has heart, soul, and a wicked sense of humor to it. The giving hope to ugly guys to boink hot chicks is only a tiny fraction of the portion of why I liked the movie.

As I've said before, The 40-Year-Old Virgin is a funnier movie, but Knocked Up is the better made movie.

Had high hopes going in but thought it was stupid, too long and unfunny, the whole "i don't wanna screw u cuz my dick might hit the baby" joke was horrible

The jokes were very hit and miss in Knocked Up. I laughed hard at times and rolled my eyes at other times. I also thought the UR version was way too long. The main reason I thought this was an average film was the weird balance between raunchy comedy and serious situations/conversations. The two just didn't mix as well as they could have.

Saw it. Thought it was meh. Definitely not a comedy classic. Also, it dragged on a bit too long.

you thought the only 3 minutes of footage really hurt this?? I can understand the non-love for the unrated 40YOV but there was hardly anything added here...

That was a recycled joke anyhow, Hugh Grant had the same one back in 9 Months.

I still really enjoy this flick, but perhaps it plays better with a crowd.
