best JAMES CAAN film - to recommend?

I'm a big fan of The Godfather, and loved James Caan's "Santino" characterization. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many of Caan's other works, with the exception of 1990's Misery.

I've got Thief and The Gambler ready to be shipped to me via NetFlix. What other James Caan films should be recommended?

Thief is by far his best movie, you might have trouble finding good ones after that...

A lot of his roles are second tier...

The Killer Elite and Brian's Song are both worth checking out, IMO.

I really liked the original Rollerball. It's dated looking, but still kinda nifty.

I like Bottle Rocket a lot.

Also of those not mentioned Misery and El Dorado are both worth seeing.

I just looked at the IMDB list of movies that Caan was in and it seems to be missing one. There was a quite good thriller with Caan where he is chased by this black van the whole movie. I cannot remember the name, but I am quite certain he was in it. Anyone remember this. It was kind of like Duel.

I've always like his role as the doctor in The Dark Backward.
