i thought the movie would be more suspenseful-thriller and less "OC". however the last 15 minutes made up for how slow the movie was until then.

It Was So Good!

Yeah, but I don't really see how you could mistake the giant Morse for a good-looking woman.

I'm glad everyone has high praise for David Morse, he's one of the most valuable character actors working. He's got a kind face, but can convey menace very easily.
Anyway, the movie was okay. No surprises, but enjoyable. One thing though, when you are secretly spying out the window, the lights have to be off or you are totally visible. |
I was actually pretty suprised by how much I liked this film. Caught me off guard; not serious enough to consider "cinema" but entertaining enough to be enjoyed on repeated viewings.

Even though I watched this about 2 days after I bought it on DVD on its release date I’ll give you my extremely late review of the movie.
I’m pretty much in the same camp you are, starseed1981. I didn’t think it was going to be nearly as good. It wasn’t a cinematic history making film or anything but it was pretty damn entertaining with some extremely solid performances. Although, it was pretty predicable, it was still enjoyable. I thought David Morse might have been in the film just a little bit more, but the parts he was in were great. I wish he’d get some bigger roles because he’s criminally underrated in my opinion. He should have reprised his role as Dr. Morrison from St. Elsewhere, now that would have been some crazy stuff. I was familiar with Shia LaBeouf from his Disney sitcom, Even Stevens. He put on a really good performance in Disturbia. Sara Roemer has the same mannerisms & look as a young Sarah Chalke (Roseanne, Scrubs). All in All, Disturbia was an entertaining flick that was better than expected. |
Just rewatched this in HD and still liked the movie, especially the hot neighbor in her bathing suit. One blatant misstep, and they all have them.

Finally saw his tonight. Pretty awful all around. David Morse was wasted. I found it pedestrian and predictable throughout.
I guess if you're 17 and haven't seen many movies...this might be entertaining. |

I rented this a few months back and just thought it was decent up until the end. Some good suspense, but I thought the last 15 minutes or so degenerated into a typical "slasher" type of flick. I was expecting something a little different considering all the build up of Morse's character.

Well, it's finally happening. The makers of Disturbia are being sued for ripping off their story line.
From Deadline Hollywood Daily: Lawsuit (And Every Film Critic) Says 'Disturbia' Ripped Off 'Rear Window' Inexplicable why it took until today for this lawsuit to be filed in Manhattan federal court because it was a total "duh". Here's the backstory: the Sheldon Abend Revocable Trust holds the copyright to the short story by Cornell Woolrich, "Murder from a Fixed Viewpoint". In 1953, Alfred Hitchcock and actor James Stewart obtained the motion picture rights to the story which became the basis for Hitchcock's 1954 classic suspense film, Rear Window. The lawsuit argues that Disturbia's maker DreamWorks and its parent company Viacom should have done the same. The complaint alleges copyright infringement and breach of contract. Spielberg is credited as exec producer of the film and therefore named a defendant, too. |
Fuck yes!
|
as much as rear window has been critically praised, the movie hasn't held up well at all. I thought Disturbia was a much better film today.
|
I want to see them try to say it's NOT a ripoff of REAR WINDOW. Heck, just about everyone invovlved with the movie (including director Caruso) was saying it was a homage to REAR WINDOW during press interviews for the film.
|
And that's what they'll be arguing. Homage vs. Blatant Ripoff.
|
what movie nowadays isn't a remake, paying homage or blatant rip-off of another. i think it is perfectly fine and this will be thrown out of court.
|
Look out, Brian De Palma!
|
i just think it's funny that Rihanna's new song is called "Disturbia" bc she used to go out with Shia.
