Forrest Gump sequel? Is that even a good idea?

Given that the first was such as steaming pile of Baby Boomer self-gratification and cheap emotional manipulation, I can't imagine subjecting myself to a second go-around. So yeah, bad idea.

What about all those "Flowers in the Attic" books churned out after the author had died? What about all those Dune books? 3001? Star Trek novels? If anything, authors and publishing houses are much more eager to rape the corpse of an idea than Hollywood is.

But then again who is surprised at this? ALL media outlets want to make money. That's nothing new. If they determine there is a market for a sequel movie, we will get one. They won't care what fanboys think online.

In order for Hanks to do it his carreer would have to be in trouble without any hits like what happened to Sly Stallone and Eddie Murfy. Eddie wound up doing BEVERLY HILLS COP 3 & ANOTHER 48 HOURS. And Sly went back to ROCKY & RAMBO sequals at age 60.

And the sequel where ET comes back to Earth to see Barrymore's boobies and to stock up on Reese's Pieces!
