Looks like a decent opening for Ninja Turtles.

I actually expected more from Hills 2, even though I didn't think it deserved it. They've been advertising the crap out of it the past few weeks. Looks like it won't make as much as the first one for sure.

Expect a big jump for TMNT today. I saw it early this afternoon and the theater was pretty full.

Does this mean we can expect a CGI version of Biker Mice From Mars or Battletoads soon?

No because they weren't as popular as TMNT.

It's opening will be on par with the first remake, which was about $15 million. But I think this one will have a huge drop, considering it's getting worse reviews than TCM: The Beginning.

Looks like TMNT will end up doing about what the original Turtles movie did opening weekend, at ~$25 Million. We'll see if it can match the original's $135 Million total run though.

I doubt it. Plus, $135 million is a lot different - fifteen years later.

The commercials for Hills Have Eyes 2 reminded me of that horrible movie The Cave for some reason.

I hope 300 will make it past $200 million, it looks to have a good chance to do so.

The original also had a small budget of 13.5 million.

Looks like 300 will end up about $100 million shy of their "expected" number.

Nice numbers for Ninja Turtles, glad to see one of my childhood favorites resurrected for a new generation.

Looks like the drop happened on it's first weekend! Only made 10 million. Obviously it didn't have a huge budget, so it's not a flop, but i've been seeing this film advertised everywhere non stop (quite a bit more than part 1 was), and apparently people just weren't interested. Add in the fact that you are right, it'll have a huge drop off next weekend, and i'd say "The Hills Have Eyes" franchise will probably stop right here. Might make 20-25 million total.

This one will kill that franchise pretty much in the exact same way that TCM: The Beginning has ended Leatherface's new run. The reviews on this have been downright horrible. I barely sat through TCM: The Beginning and I loved the first remake. This one will be a rental, but I'm expecting the very worst. And I also loved the Hills 1st remake.

In its only defense, having 5 other new releases open probably didn't help. Neither did 300, which is still the main R-rated draw right now.

Wrong forum, and totally pointless... WB is format neutral.

I'm pretty sure he knows that, and I think he meant that it's good for HD DVD that these won't be BD exclusives.

Besides, anyone who mentions the DVD would be in the wrong forum too.

It's actually an inside joke to those of us embroiled in the format war
