During the opening sequence, I heard a little kid off to the side say "Dad, I feel like we're getting rained on".

The Tom Selleck portrait was pretty much the only part of this movie I really enjoyed...otherwise I was extremely disappointed with most of it...just weak 'jokes', extremely predictable plotting and it really dragged for me. I thought the animation was nice, but overall, the movie was not nearly as good as more recent CG fare.

I rented it last night and felt like I shouldn't turn it in this morning. There's so much more to see, it deserves a second and a third viewing. I liked everything about it but especially the characterizations (acting, writing), the art direction and the 50's feel, the great songs (some of which were written by our own Rufus Wainright), the fact that it can emulate The Incredibles in the quirkiness of its little asides and overall special effects, the multiple set pieces that go on just a little too long so you can actually enjoy them once you get the hang of them, and of course the final dedication which is like a cherry on the sundae.
Actually, the only thing that marred my pleasure the first time around was the introduction of the Robinson family, which are taken from the book and seem to evolve in a different movie. But in hindsight, I feel it's great they should have been kept in the movie since they were the inspiration for it all in the first place.
And, technically, it's not that different from a Pixar product. Definitely a contender this year, on a par with Ratatouille.
