I don't really get scared. Startled, yes. But loud noises do the same thing. ^^ Seeing the first Evil Dead in the '80 was the last thing that really scared me. Now I'm 30 something *cough*, it's more black humor to me. Dread, I feel that. Like Misery, right before he gets his ankles broken or Pulp Fiction ( you know what scene I'm talking about).
I like pretend horror than more realistic. Like my hubby says, 'I've known feller's like that.' But he had wilder teen years than I did. Ever see Creepshow, the story with cockroaches? He's seen them that thick before and met some scary effin' peolpe. Needless to say, he doesn't like stuff like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The People under the Stairs.
Heck, I remember years ago some fanzine had Ol' Yeller as the best horror movie ever. Now video games, that's a different story.
The first Silent Hill replicated the fright exactly, especially when I was panicking with the controls and fighting at same time. Made it to the school before my nerves gave out.
And Resident Evil 1. Like the hallway with all the windows or opening doors and it's black at first, so the dread hits. Never made it very far in either, but I loved Eternal Darkness and the Lovecraft feel of the game.

Goes to show what everyone says here about having different tastes. Trust your own tastes first and never blind buy movies.

I am however disapointed to have bought those dvd's. I watched all those dvd's duirng the holidays. And I can tell you only one or two DVD were worth the money.
I Madman
Candyman
Serpent and Rainbow
Suspiria
The Vanishing
Lets scare jessica to death
Picnic at the hanging rock
Uzumaki
etc etc etc.
Out of this whole list. I think Suspiria is the worst movie I have ever seen.
I wanted something that would really scare me. I am not saying anything bad about you guys, its just that I had a lot of hopes from these dvd's and its not worth buying them.
I recently watched The Decent and that is worth spending the money on.
Anyways, I hope no one takes this in a wrong way. Its hard being a student to buy DVD, and its very upsetting when they are not worth it. Maybe that's the reason why I am getting upset.
Anyways, I am trying to find a way to sell these DVD's so I can get some of my money back.
Sorry for the frustration in this post.

1: Sign up for an online rental club such as Netflix or BB online so you wont get burned
2: Dont just use one site for opinions. Also go to imdb and other sites for reviews
