Can't believe I forgot:
You Can Count of Me - poignant, funny, and true character piece with fantastic performances my Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo, just a joy to watch
Martin and Orloff - very funny off the wall comedy with lots of solid comedic performances (Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh, David Cross)
The Good Thief - underseen Neil Jordan film (adaptation of classic Bob Le Flambeur) about a strung out gambler thief played by Nick Nolte; clever, funny, original heist film
The Ice Harvest - refreshingly dark, comedic noir from Harold Ramis, Cusack and Thorton make a good duo, surprised this seemed to fly so under the radar of most

A lot of good movie have been mentioned already. As for me, I think one of the most underrated movie released in the recent year is this:

Its a shame only a few people have seen this.

Another film that came to my mind after reading the latest Big Lebowski thread...

Not only is it underrated, but it probably wins the award of the most violent and darkest mainstream American comedy of all time.

Also another one that is going to bring some laughs is Blue Chips. Yeah yeah I know it's cheesy but the speech that Nolte gives at the end is fantastic.

Of the top my head, Meet Joe Black. While Im not saying it deserved to be treated like greatest film ever made I never understood hate or lack of interest in it. I thought the performances by everyone was fantastic, especially Anthony Hopkins. It has very haunting quality to it and every year when I watch it, it truely haunts me for days and makes me think about my life.
