Can someone remind me what the credits of Panic Room are like? I only saw the movie once and I can't remember the credits at all.

Another vote for Casino Royale, at least as far as credits in the last year I've seen. I thought was a pretty cool way to preview the "rough and tumble" Bond in a slick way.

Superman Returns. Same music and flying words as the first two but this time we get a pretty cool flying past all the planets images.

I know I will be mocked relentlessly, but I loved the opening credits for A View to A Kill, great Duran Duran song and cool visuals, especially the ski team. Far and away the best thing about that movie, lol, except maybe the scenes with Grace Jones and Christopher Walken upstaging themselves...

Not sure why but I just love the opening for the recent "Flight of the Phoenix" remake.

That silver plane against the dunes to Johhny Cash's 'I've Been Everywhere' is a real HT demo scene IMHO.

Wouldn't put it in the top 10 but since we are on the subject I really liked the opening credit sequences for Devil's Rejects.

No, that is a great James Bond theme and I admit the opening is far better than the actual film.

You would have to be mocked/beaten with a rubber hose if you said it was your favorite James Bond movie.

I always enjoyed "Signs"

The HUGE Hitchcock-ian words with eerie music.

Can't forget Dr. Strangelove: That tall hand-scripted font set to stock footage of airplanes "making love" (aka in-air fueling), with the gentle "Try a Little Tenderness" playing in the background. Great stuff!

Honorable mentions include: Ed Wood (names on tombstones, with terrific score and lightning!), My Darling Clementine (names on road signs, along with title song), and the Dollars Trilogy (always had fondness for For a Few Dollars More; very cool bounty kill before credits kick off).

Also liked the cartoon characters used in Honeymoon in Vegas and recent Pink Panther (Steve Martin). DVD of Pink Panther has a pretty slick CGI opening that was scrapped; it is used in the main menu and listed in deleted scenes.

The Warriors! (theatrical cut)

The Wonder Wheel... great neon title design flying through the subway tunnels and the gang's journey into new territory, succinctly edited to DeVorzon's cool sounds. Chills!

*edited to denote "theatrical cut"

The list isn't bad if the criteria is simply 1990's and later films. Otherwise, it is semi-lame. No Bond or Saul Bass classics?

This one is the winner. The opening title and credits getting "shot" off of the screen over Ennio Morricone's superb title music blows everything else mentioned in this thread away.

I'm partial to Tomorrow Never Dies for some reason, even though I'm no fan of Sheryl Crow.

I loved that. It's the closest I've seen us come to my dream opening: old style title cards. A friend and I always joked that if we ever made a movie we'd have those same types of title cards and a big sign that it was "Filmed in TECHNICOLOR". We're both fans of that era of filmmaking (although I've only seen a few dozen films from back then).
