Yeah it's running on cable right now and I have to say that I always loved this film, but after seeing it again(3rd time) I love it even more. I get why people wouldn't like it but different strokes right?

It was OK, I agree with the B- rating given early in the thread.

I came to this thread to find out which side threw the girl out of the plane, the explanation given earlier makes sense to me. I'd kind of like to think it was the KGB who had her thrown out, but it really doesn't matter I guess.

Edit: I thought about it more last night, yeah, it was Edward. The KGB would want her alive for potential blackmail material and Edward had a habit of killing spys - remember that the girl started out as a spy so she was still fair game. Though throwing her out of the plane alive was a little dramatic, I would have expected her to just have been shot or strangled, then thrown out.

The only thing I can't figure out is why the KGB gave him such a vague videotape with work done to hide who it was / where it was taken. Why not give him the tape and say "this is your son"?

I thought that was pretty obvious. Considering the fact that Edward knew she was gone when he told his son at the Church. Plus let's not forget that she was the one who went back to the KGB/Cuba with the heads up on The Bay of Pigs that ended up in a clusterfuck for America. Even though it was Ed's son who blabbed to her in bed according to the tape, she definitely had to go....Also I could've sworn The KGB agent said she was no good to him anymore when he was telling Edward who she was.

I thought the Agent basically did it as a favor due to them being respected enemies since after WWII AND since he wanted Ed to spy for him. He was using that whole mess that involved his son as a sort of blackmail.

You're right, I had forgotten that she had passed the information on - she had to go though throwing her out of a plane alive was a little over the top; I still think they could have just killed her a different way, kind of like how they killed the German woman.

This is one of those movies that I really have no desire to watch again, but the more I think about it the more I like it.

Definately worth at least a rental if anybody out there is on the fence about it.
