I go alone and prefer it. You can go see a movie at any time you want, you don't have to worry about having to tell a friend to stop talking if they talk, and you can just spread out and be in the movie world.

I go with my SO to mainstream movies, blockbusters, etc - but since she has no interest in arthouse - even something as relatively accessible as the Coen brothers,I tend to go alone, almost exclusively to matinees, so as not to look like that creepy old guy who can't get a date. I'll round up my daughter, nieces and nephews for the latest $100 mil children's computer animated "classic" so I can spend vast amounts of money on concessions.

Where's the option for those of us who don't care either way? I go by myself, with my wife or with my friends...doesn't matter to me.

My true movie-going preference is an empty theater. I hate cell phones, talking, popcorn munching, kids crying, people going to the bathroom, etc. So if I don't know you, I don't want you there.

I just can't go alone. The only time I've ever done that is last January when I had 7 hours to kill before a flight home from Florida so I went and saw King Kong for the second time.

When I was younger I went by myself all the time. Now that I'm older, I prefer going with someone else.

I prefer to go with people, but only if it's my "movie buddies." The ones that appreciate films as much as I do. I hate going out with friends I don't typically go out with, and they turn out to be the type who love talking loudly and making jokes through the movie. It's fucking embarrassing.

I usually go alone. I remember seeing Polanski's Pirates by myself when I was 15, that was that last movie I saw by myself until about 2000 when I had moved and had my first daughter. I didn't have that much time and when the opportunity presented itself to see a movie I usually didn't have time to find someone to go with, so I went by myself. I do like seeing it with someone else so you can talk about it afterwards, but I don't feel the need to have to have someone to go.

I go either with my friends or my family when they're in town. But then again I don't go to theaters that often anymore, and prefer waiting for DVD or HD DVD. I have yet to go by myself, but if a movie came out I really wanted to see and nobody wanted to go, I would have no problem seeing it solo.

I'm okay with going by myself to movies (matinee only). I have some obscure tastes in film, so if there is some foreign film or horror movie that no one else wants to see, which is common, I go solo.

I cross the line at most animated movies, except Pixar. Even as a female, it feels kind of weird.

I'm usually go with somebody about 85% of the time. Going alone doesn't bother me though... even if it's on a weekend night, to be honest. I don't care too much about what other people may think. If it's something I really want to see and I don't have anyone to go with, doesn't bother me to see it solo. But overall, I prefer going out to eat & going to a movie with people(s) and making a night/day of it.

I've never been alone but I meet a guy from work sometimes who goes frequently by himself. I usually arrive before him and find a seat in the theater but feel awkward until he arrives. I enjoy the conversation before and after the film as well as sharing the experience with someone else to reflect on down the road.

If it's a movie I want to see (as opposed to a kid movie), I go alone about 80% of the time, and sort of prefer it that way. I do like going with other people, but they often want to talk during the movie, which I think is obnoxious.

I also like to get a small popcorn. There is something so much nicer about a small popcorn than even a medium--might be the way the butter ends up on it. If I go with someone else, I can't do that since people who say they don't want any popcorn end up eating it anyway. I compromise and get a big popcorn to split, but in my heart of hearts, I would rather we each had our own smalls. I guess I'm not a sharer.

When I was a teenager, I enjoyed going alone. I was on my own schedule and didn't need to have a discussion about what to see. It's been at least 5 years since I've been to one by myself.
With my wife, and while we were still dating, I loved going with her to see a movie on the opening weekend. It was great seeing a new movie in a packed house.
Now, we go to matinees. I don't think I've been to a movie past 6pm since Twister. I can't even remember the last time I went to a movie with a group of people.

SO to answer the question, I prefer going to the movies with my wife. And nobody else in the entire theater.

I don't have a problem with going to the movie solo, per se. But I've never really done it (except for my pre-teen years when my parents would drop me off at a movie), because I need the motivation of other people to go.

I just can't come up with enough motivation to trek out by myself, as if I'm already solo, I'd rather just stay home and watch one of my thousands of dvds...

But I've never had a problem with finding at least one person to go to a movie when I need to - though there's been a few times that I haven't been able to go when other people have asked me, and in those cases I just catch the movie on dvd.

I still watch a lot of movies, but 95% of them are on dvd, and a lot of them are imports from other regions, so I don't even go out to movies that much to begin with, so why do it alone?

I think the important thing to remember is that no one else in that theater gives a shit that you're there alone...if they even notice you're there to begin with. People spend way too much time worrying about what other people think of them, when other people really aren't thinking of them at all.

I went to my first movie by myself a few weeks ago. It was weird.

I much prefer going with others. Not to talk during the movie, but because I only see movies that I know I'll like and I'd spend the whole movie going "my wife would have liked that" or "my friends would have laughed at that." I like being around people when everyone is having a good time.

Don't care one way or the other. I'll go by myself if I know it's something that doesn't fit the tastes of my friends or girlfriend. If any of them want to come along that's fine too. For the more mainstream stuff my friends usually end up tagging along.

I often go by myself (to matinees/rush hour shows) - that way I'm not dependent on anyone's schedule but my own. I go when I feel like it, even 15 minutes before the movie starts.
Of course I prefer to go with friends, especially in the evening, but often that's not an option.

LF1M Tank or Healer preferred

Ok...enough with the WOW slang Game's addicting.

I myself can not go it alone. It helps that my wife is a movie nut so we usually go to a movie even if the other is not stoked to see it.

We find ourselves staying home more since we got the 65" set but it's good to get out every so often.

If we do go it's at an unpopular time. Nothing worse than Fri or Sat night
