Funny how it took a year from when the stills were released til the trailer was released. Thank God it isn't another year of waiting until the actual movie comes out.

I'm not sure how I feel about the trailer. I mean, it looks good, but it doesn't look incredible... maybe they can't show the pure awesomeness of the D in a 90second trailer. I have faith it'll rock harder than anything has rocked before, but that trailer is underwhelming.

I agree with you on this. It reminds me of a second coming of Wayne's World or something along that lines.

I don't want to seem like a troll or anything, but just from the trailer, the movies looked horrendous.

I don't know, I liked the trailer. It reminded me of their music videos and TV shows (especialy with the inclusion of the devil from the Tribute music video). I guess if you didn't already like Tenacious D though, the trailer probably wouldn't convince you.

I agree too. I saw this Friday night before SOAP. I also saw the trailer for Borat and the theater was full of laughter for that trailer, but not much at all for the Tenacious D trailer.

Trailer looks dumb (it even has a "smashed crotch" gag), but it could have been cut that way to appeal to a wider audience.

the Schtick has run too long. And Jack Black has been getting exponentially annoying.
I'll give it a shot on DVD and hope for the best, but...

a possible reason on the trailer not being the best is because they may not be able to show the good parts in a trailer (if you've ever seen the old stuff, you'll understand why)

I went to the premiere last night. Jack & Kyle showed up in capes and crowns. The movie was hilarious. If you're a fan of the HBO series, then you will really love this. The movie is a definite R-rating, lots of fucks and so on. It was great seeing it with a large crowd, the Mann Chinese's sound system is probably the best I've ever experienced.

Many celebs in the crowd and walking around, who were all really cool : Ben & Jerry Stiller, Christine Taylor, Jeremy Piven, John C. Reilly, Dave Grohl ( nice guy ), David Spade, Sarah Silverman, Nicole Sullivan, many others.

I'll be seeing it again when it comes out. Great road-adventure comedy.

Hmm...I like Jack Black and Tenacious D...but this movie looks godawful to me.

Just saw the movie a couple of hours ago. I thought the movie was funny but nothing amazing or mind blowing. I had a feeling after seeing the trailer that it would be somewhat like Wayne's World, but I was pleasantly surprised that the movie was better than either of those two. Most of the songs in the movie are really good and urged me to go out and buy the soundtrack. The climax of the movie was done really well in my opinion and I would like to see more of the D in the future (if a good script were written).

How does it compare to the HBO shorts (if you've seen them)? Those were fantastic, IMHO. Wondered if they could sustain that tone for an entire movie though.

It is a very good movie. It plays out like the shorts do but in longform telling what I believe is a semi-true but embellished story. It is a fun ride in the theater nonetheless.

The porn title to this movie is going to be "Tenacious Dick: The Prick of Destiny"
