basically, its not a matter of Guy Pearce "making more movies," its a matter of Guy Pearce firing his agent and getting a real agent so Guy can star in "more quality movies."

Movies like "Babel" that get great critical and commercial praise. Movies like "Crash" that win Oscars. Movies like "The Goodbye Girl" that get you Best Actor Oscars. Something juicy, something trendy, something memorable. Any reason why Pearce couldn't be in the much-ballyhooded Rocky Balboa? Star in a Ron Howard film like his buddy Russell Crowe?

The problem with Guy Pearce and his faigeleh agent is that he doesn't work with directors and writers who nab headlines and people's attention. Its a real shame, too, because Guy has movie idol, matinee style looks and charm. Its being wasted on films that nobody sees and nobody will remember. Sorry, but you can't compare L.A. Confidential with The Hard Word. Maybe you've seen it, but ask the general public and they'd say, "huh? What, never heard of it."

What does faigeleh mean?

If Guy Pierce is in a movie, I try to at least rent it. Does he just like making Aussie movies? I didnt really like the Hard Word, will give it another watch sometime for a final judgement. He easily could star in more blockbuster type films, maybe it's just not his bag. He does what he wants, not what we want.

He's kind of like Matt Dillon in that he could get more high visibility roles but that's not what he's after.

"More" being the operative word in 'more high visibility roles'. He's done high visibility roles but he's never chosen to be a headliner like Willis: Diehard, Schwarzenegger:Terminator, Stallone:Rocky, Connery:Bond, Douglas:Wall Street, Eastwood: Dirty Harry, etc... You never see his last name by itself at the top of a movie poster, he seldom carries a picture-he's part of an ensemble.

It's not a knock. He does it by choice.

I don't think its so much a choice as it is that he hasn't had that kind of "luck" yet.

Dillon is not that "un"-famous that he can't go out in public without attracting attention, so he's got that curse already. Whether or not he wanted to take that "one step" to become a Nicholson or a DeNiro - well, Nicholson and DeNiro didn't consciously wake up one morning and go, "I want to be a headliner, and that's what I'm going to become...right...now! As we all know, Nicholson spent the 60's being a struggling actor in b-movies until his "big break" in '69 with "Easy Rider." The film "Easy Rider" didn't have a big production, it didn't have big-name actors and it didn't have a big name director. The film was made at "the right place and the right time," and Nicholson became A BIG STAR.

I don't think Matt Dillon not being a big star like Nicholson is a conscious choice. It just didn't work out that way. If Dillion had a choice in the matter, well, we can all speculate.

Personally, I think I'd want to be King of the World for at least one decade. "Take my picture by the pool, cause I'm the next big thing..."

The REAL question is, why doesn't Nicol Williamson make more movies!

saw the trailer for this on HDNet's 'Nothing But Trailers' recently, and I honestly did not recognize it was Guy, obviousily since he's got white hair for the role (duh).

White hair shouldn't throw you off - after all, he had white hair in Memento.

I'm sure you're right - Andy Warhol was a very unique looking character, and any actor playing him would be engulfed by Warhol's image. In fact, it wouldn't even make any sense for a prolific actor to portray Warhol because nobody will know who's behind the glasses.

Remember in The Doors movie? Crispian Glover played Andy Warhol - the same Crispian Glover who played Senior McFly in Back to the Future. Shit, could have been anybody.

Guy Pearce is a good actor, but he's also good for being and looking like Guy Pearce. Its his image that makes him a star, just as much as his acting talent.
