Saw this last night and loved it - really cranks good on the speakers. The Point Break gag had me dying laughing for a good while and the "girl on girl" comment made me pee a little too.
The beginning was well done and while it was a little slow in the beginning, it never got boring. Maybe It's easy for me to like this trio because they make me laugh but I don't think I overlooked anything. There is more subtle humor in this flick than Shaun which was a surprise. Like it better than Shaun of the Dead.....or maybe just as much ;) The shit just got real. |

I just watched this last night. I thought it was really good. I haven't gone through the 7+ pages so my comments might be repeats but I'll say the humor was great especially coming from someone who grew up on Lethal Weapon, Point Break, Bad Boys, etc.
I was a little surprised by the gore. For a comedy, even an action/comedy I thought the violence was surprisingly gory. Not that it offended me in any way, just sayin'. Of course I'll chalk that up to homage to Bad Boys II. I thought it's violence was surprisingly gory as well. While I though the ending stayed consistantly funny, I was a little dissappointed by the direction the plot took. Spoiler:
Overall very funny, I think I'd probably rate it above Shaun of the Dead. "P.I. Staker?! Piss taker! Come on!" :lol: |

Caught this over the weekend from Netflix - simply awsome! I didn't really expect any of the ending, except for Dalton's character (since I had seen the clip on Top Gear some time back).
I'm definitely going to have to pick this one up. :) |

I saw this in the theater and was decidedly underwhelmed. I remember laughing out loud only once. Shaun of the Dead, on the other hand, consistently had me in stitches.

Finally got around to watching this yesterday afternoon (Sunday afternoon) and I thought it was fu*king hilarious!
I don’t know if this was as good as Shaun of the Dead but it’s definitely funny and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. So many great lines in the film, but one of my favorite scenes was when Frost’s character (Butterman) opening up that sliding door that revealed a walk in closet full of DVDs after Angel and Butterman came home from the bar. It’s funny cause it’s true. Timothy Dalton was great in the movie. Dramatic zoom in towards Angel when he answers the phone: “Decaffeinated!” :lol: Anyways, I’m not going to keep going on because I’m sure I’ll end up what everyone else has already said, but I thought Hot Fuzz was fu*king hilarious indeed! It also had a surprising amount of goriness as well. |
I think I'm the rare person who liked Hot Fuzz a ton more then Shaun of the Dead. And I'm a zombie movie fan.
I thought the writing was a lot better and funnier on Hot Fuzz. The last 30 minutes of Shaun seemed to get away from the comedic aspect of the movie and into a serious zombie movie. That's where it lost it's steam to me. Saxon |

There is a difference between a movie becoming serious and suddenly taking itself too seriously. As an example of the latter, I offer Lake Placid. |

I think shaun was funny the whole movie. Maybe not as funny as the begining parts but still funny. Besides I like that it was basically a real zombie movie and not a spoof.

Two different movies, love 'em both. Exactly my feeling. The temptation to make the zombies "funny" and to make the whole thing a spoof must have been tremendous. But instead, they made a legitimate zombie movie that had moronic, funny, late-20-early-30-something spaced-out characters surviving (or not, as the case may be) this undead-apocalypse which turned what could have been a one-time-viewing funny lampoon of a movie into a comedic classic. This is of course indicative of everything Messiuers Pegg et. all seem to do. -Doc |

Pegg/Frost/Wright Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz follow-up to shoot in 2012
Hot Fuzz follow-up 'to be made next year' Nick Frost reveals plans A follow-up to Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz could be shot next year, star Nick Frost has revealed. The film, once provisionally titled The World's End, would reunite Frost with Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright. Frost said a script had been written, and that all three now wanted to ‘get on with it’. In an interview with film website Coming Soon, he said: ‘There is a draft out there, which I've read, and it's great. ‘I think our plan is to crack on and shoot next year – touch wood. They move and they change but we definitely want to get on with it.’ After 2007’s Hot Fuzz, Wright went onto direct Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Pegg and Frost co-wrote and starred in Paul. The reunion of all three has been mooted for some time, marking the completion of what has been dubbed the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. Shaun of the Dead features a red strawberry Cornetto, Hot Fuzz includes a blue Classic flavour, and The World's End is due to feature a green mint chocolate chip one. Pegg has previously said his aim with The World’s End is ‘not just do the same thing again, to do something very different. Not to the point of alienating people who want something, but just give people something new and something different.’ Can't wait! |
