After Dark Films' presents 8 Films To Die For (Nov. 17-19)

HD Trailer (with some terribly obvious audio cues from the trailer for the TCM remake...)

Seems like an interesting idea (albeit one I'll likely have to wait for until each gets a DVD release), showing a miniature horror festival of eight previously unreleased movies over the course of a weekend. Oddly enough, there are only seven listed in the trailer:

Penny Dreadful
The Gravedancers
The Abandoned (with it's own trailer here)
The Hamiltons
Reincarnation (aka: Rinne)
Unrest
Dark Ride

There's certainly some good imagery shown in the trailer; whether or not any of them are quality movies remains to be seen.

First time poster. I saw this and am a big horror fan. I don't think all of the movies look that hot, but I'm excited for a handful. The Hamiltons has been getting extremely good buzz. I'll probably go if the festival hits LA, which I assume that it will.

Thanks for the list, HC. I found their MySpace page too. Not much more info there but I love their background pic

Does anyone know how this festival will work? 1 price gets you all flicks or do you have to pay for each one individually? Good to see San Diego on the list but I'm curious which theater is hosting.

On their website it says you can buy an all access pass or individual tickets to each movie. The Hamiltons looks pretty good, not sure if I'll drive to Chicago or Milwaukee for it alone though.

I'm stoked. Looks like it's getting a wider release than I would've thought. Nice to see it's showing in several theaters locally. I'm definately going for the weekend pass.... probably at the Mission Valley AMC20.

If anyone wants to join me, let me know.

Please tell me these will eventually be out on DVD. I'd hate to miss out just 'cause I live so incredibly far away from the US

As I asked in my repost (sorry - I really did do a search before posting), any word on the quality of movies they are showing?

Good question. Looks like some might've been seen in film festivals. This is why pricing will be important for me. For $5, I wouldn't mind a fun gore-fest. But if it approaches $10, it better be damn good since I normally won't pay that much for a A-list blockbuster.

What's the advance word on any of these flicks? If it is in Greenville, SC at the Hollywood 20, and I just called and they told me that they're in talks to bring it to that theater, I might just go watch some of them, if not all.

just saw this trailer before saw iii (which i loved btw)

i will definitly be attending at the Valley View, OH location. hopefully prices won't be more than $50 for the entire run. i'm guessing they'll only dedicate 1 or 2 theaters to show all the films in and will probably have only a couple screenings of each.

The Hamiltons sounds good.

i saw 'the hamiltons' at the malibu film festival. it was decent, but not great. very, very low production values with a lot of wooden acting (although i will say the lead teenager kid was really good). there are some interesting ideas/subtext mixed into it, however, and since the lead teenager was so good i found myself caring for him. in the end i would say it's an okay movie, probably worth seeing/supporting if you're into low budget horror. if they're charging the full theater price you might be disappointed, but if it's a discount ticket it might be worth it.

^^^ I kinda think most of these films will fall under the same "quality". As you said, that's cool if the ticket price reflects that these are not A-list movies. I guess we'll find out on Tuesday when tix go on sale.

I looked at the list of theaters again and some of the theaters listed for San Diego are no longer on the list. Previously there were 5 or so theaters and now it's down to only 2 theaters. I click the "Pre-Order Tickets" and it opens up my email, addressed to some guy named Will.

WTH is going on with this event?

I can't even get that far. I go to the website and it just keeps telling me that the box office and, any other relevent information which might help us make these people money, is "coming soon." I spoke with an agent at one of the theatres the films will be showing at here in San Diego and was told that tickets were to go on sale Friday, November 13th but for individual showings only. The all-access pass needs to be bought directly from the host/distributor. I've seen posting of the passes supposedly going on sale last Friday - 10/27/06. The website says today - 10/31/06. I agree - what the hell's the deal here? I hope these films are better than the support provided on the website!

Oh, and for those wondering about prices - be prepared to shell out $75 for the three day run.
