Savannah Smiles DVD: Anyone Buy it?
It came out for the 1st time on DVD last Tuesday. I had never seen it before but wanted to see it for a few reasons.
1) it was one of those 80's movies that seemd to never get a lot of press during release but had a devoted following that has seemed to really grow over time.
2) Savannah the porn star got her name from this movie
3) It was Bridgette Andersen's beakout movie. I 1st remember seeing her 20 years ago in "Parent trap II." However, many have said this was her best movie.
It's hard not to watch the movie and be a little saddened by the fact that she didn't have a longer and more fulfilling life and career. For those that don't know, she died of an accidental drug overdose in 1997.
As a side note, it was cool to see Pat Morita play a priest.
A really touching movie and a great family film.
So, anyone else buy this?

I know this is an old thread, but I borrowed this from our local library this week and watched it with my kids.
I remember seeing this film during one of the kid-centered summer theater programs our local theater theater had (25¢ a ticket I think). It was shown as a Saturday afternoon movie too, so I had seen it several time, but it's been a good 20 years since the last time. Growing up in Utah, I recognize most of the places this movie was shot (Bridal Veil Falls, Sundance, etc.).
Anyways, my kids really liked it and will probably watch it again before we take it back later this week. I might buy it later down the road.
Not a bad movie by any means, but Anchor Bay gave it a good shot. The picture is clean and the audio is clear (although some of the music sounds muted).
Just as a side note, one of the main "bad guys" is Mark Miller, father of Penelope Ann Miller.
