Happy Feet anyone?

Personally, I was sold when Robin Williams was doing his flamenco version of "My Way". There's a second trailer on the site that has the penguins doing different dance number.

Needless to say, i'll be checking this out in November. Anyone else?

Here's the link - http://www2.warnerbros.com/happyfeet/

Guess I was ahead of my time. Either that, or I was shilling for WB.

Regardless...still plan on checking this flick out. There've been more trailers added to the site since my first post. And Prince is contributing a song to the soundtrack too.

After seeing more of it at comic con... I wasn't too impressed.. I'll wait for our (re: Sony's) penguin movie, Surf's Up. ;)

Dan1boy 10-25-06 04:17 PM

eh...

GreenVulture 10-25-06 04:50 PM

I'm genuinely interested in seeing this, mainly because it's directed by none other than George Miller (Mad Max trilogy, The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo's Oil), and he's proven with the Babe movies that he knows how to make great children's films.

But I'm curious why they keep pushing Robin Williams in the TV ads and trailers I've seen. It's horribly unfunny, and makes it look like another random CG cartoon. I'm surprised they're not pushing/featuring some of the bigger actors, like Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

harrydoyle 10-25-06 05:03 PM

From the trailer I'd say it's worth giving this film a shot

calhoun07 10-25-06 05:04 PM

From the trailer I would say it's one to avoid.

Penguins certainly are popular right now, with March of the Penguins, Madgascar, Happy Feat, and Surf's Up (thanks to the poster, as I didn't know about that one). My wife is a penguin fanatic, and has to own/see anything penguin related, so we'll definitely be viewing this.

RyoHazuki 10-26-06 05:30 AM

^^^^Dont forget the Farce of the Penguins.

Looks weak. Robin Williams has become a good reason to stay home from the theaters. I think I may have preferred his dramatic/schmaltz schtick. Eh, nevermind.

Star Wars Guy 10-26-06 06:58 AM

I've only seen the first 2 trailers, which don't tell you anything about what the 'story' is, just shows all the penquins dancing. Hopefully the movie isn't 90 minutes of just that. I have to admit that I'm still interested in seeing this, I'd just prefer a little more info about the gist of it. Do the newer trailers shed any light?

Spoiler:
That's pretty much it, they explain that penguins have a love song they sing, it just so happens the one penguin can't sing for shit, but he sure dances up a storm.

I didn't know George Miller directed this! I'm sold just because of that. It looked kinda stupid from the trailers I saw, and I had absolutely no interest in seeing it - but I can't turn down George Miller after Babe 2. And from all the hubbub it's causing over at Ain't It Cool, this sounds like a dark unexpected treat. The reviews are saying that this movie takes a sharp turn from a happy movie to a statement film.

This is one I'm going to sit out. I doubt I'll even rent it. Good luck to you all, though.

matome 11-16-06 08:02 AM

We need more CG animated animal movies.

SonOfAStu 11-16-06 08:27 AM

I'm going to see it, but only becuase it's being shown in 3-D at the Imax and the preview for it (in 3-D) before Superman Returns blew me away.

story 11-16-06 08:40 AM

No "Happy Feet" song as sung by Jeff the Mannequin on the 1980s Nickelodeon little kids' show Today's Special = No Sale.

...What. Too obscure?

GuessWho 11-16-06 08:49 AM

Sam the security guard wouldn't allow it.

you know that at this point it's just standard IMAX, not IMAX 3D.

I agree, his voice is getting grating.

Have the ability to quote this show on a regular basis, and my sister will marry you.

As grating as Mr. Patrick "I'll take any part that isn't live action" Warburton? Nah.

Ginwen 11-16-06 04:55 PM

The single plus (George Miller) does not overcome the multiple minuses (Robin Williams who just keeps making awful movies, a crappy preview, and the fact that I don't want to see any more damn penguin movies). So I'll be skipping this one.

You should be happy that they limited him to 2 voices in the movie. They decided against a third voice because it was too identifiable to him.

parkourking 11-17-06 05:39 AM

Why is it that every 3-d animated movie HAS to be about animals? I know there are examples etc.c etc. but it just seems to me that every movie like this is about animals.

There must be more you can do with medium no?

You sure about that? The entire preview was in 3D so they must have rendered the footage that way.

Not doubting you, but yes, this is the first I've heard that it won't be in 3D. Link?
