Another zombie film is always great to hear. Don't think it can be worse than the Dawn Remake.

Enjoyed the Dawn remake. Looking forward to the Day remake.

I enjoy zombie flicks so I know I'll end up watching it. After all, I suffered through The House of the Dead, a movie so bad it makes Manos: The Hands of Fate look like Seven Samurai.

Day is my favorite of Romero's zombie flicks (thus far). Still, I have no problem with a remake. It's not like the original is going to disappear from the planet.

Or will it?

On second thought, no... it won't.

DAY OF THE DEAD remake...

Miner digs 'Dead' redux

Helmer set to direct Romero redo

By MICHAEL FLEMING

Steve Miner has been set to direct "Day of the Dead," the Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films remake of George Romero's 1985 zombie tale. "Final Destination" scribe Jeffrey Reddick is writing the script.
Miner takes the job after directing such fright films as "Halloween H2O" and "Lake Placid."

Romero wrote and directed the original, which follows a group of scientists and military personnel holed up in an underground bunker because the world above is overrun with zombies. The lumbering flesheaters eventually find a way in and wreak havoc on the scientists who've been experimenting on their undead brethren.

Pic is being produced by Millennium's Avi Lerner and Boaz Davidson, Randall Emmett, George Furla and James Dudelson. Robert Dudelson, M. Dal Walton III, Trevor Short and Danny Dimbort are exec producing with Paul Mason and Jordan Rush.

"We are very enthusiastic about the marketplace's continued demand for new and exciting horror pictures, and we are please to have Steve helm this," Lerner said.

Millennium and Emmett/Furla are also scaring up "Rambo IV" with Sylvester Stallone.

Hopefully it turns out well. Watched half of Day last night and it still holds up as my favorite Dead film.

I thought Universal was also remaking "Day" as the sequel to '04's "Dawn of the Dead".

I didn't care for the original "Day" so it will be interesting to see what they come up with for the remake.

I don't really mind a remake. The original was far from perfect, and look at how good the Dawn of the Dead remake turned out. The only problem is that craptastic director.

Some of us thought the Dawn remake was terrible.

Also I don't understand the ideology of remaking a film just because it wasn't "perfect". There are few films (if any) that are perfect. For a zombie film, I think Day is probably the second best tied with the original Night.

Still I always look forward another zombie film, so hopefully it turns out good. There is a lot to work with, hopefully they don't shy away from making such an incredibly down and out movie like the original.

Hopefully the remake has a little less talk than the original.

Blah blah blah blah blah.

I actually enjoyed the 'New' Dawn. I just wish Romero would be able to make his original 'Day' a reality.

I know most remakes are arrived with should they remake or not, but c'mon, you are telling me people won't go to Blockbuster or buy the original at BB because its from 1985!!! This is one remake I loathe to think they are doing it.

IMO the original day wasn't very good, probably my least favorite dead movie. I loved the night remake, and the dawn remake was ok, so bring on the day remake. Even if its as bad as the original, at least with a bigger budget it will be prettier to look at.

I thouroughly enjoyed both the Night and Dawn remakes so i've got high hopes for Day.

Maybe they could remake Day the way Romero had intended it to be. I'm not holding my breath though...and the zombies will probably run.

Isn't this being made by the same company that made "DAY OF THE DEAD 2: CONTAGIUM". I believe they're called "Taurus Entertainment", or something like that.

Steve Miner? Really? No one else was available? I mean, Miner hasn't made a good movie in years!! I wish they could have gotten Zach Snyder to do this one too. I mean, Miner did good with Friday the 13th part 2 and House, but other than that, his resume includes such gems as Texas Rangers, Halloween H20, My Father the Hero and Big Bully... come on!!! This really deflates any anticipation I had for this flick...

Here is how big of a fan the writer is. He says:

"There will be a military facility with soldiers, scientists and civilians, there will be a Bub and yes, there will be blood—lots of it. Like the original, this DAY will be rated R."

Yeah...The original was UNRATED. Not Rated R.

I only hope it's as good as his Dungeons & Dragons movie.
