Went and saw it today and i'm starting to get a little worried about this bet.

I still think i'll win, but like he last poster said, it's going to be close.

I actually really liked it, but i can see how its not as captivating as the first one.

I wouldn't be as confident as most here.

Word of mouth about the ending of PotC2 could put a damper on the BO.

No spoilers, but the ending could be very disappointing to many people. I haven't even seen a sneak preview and I know (and hate) the ending.

But I'll see it anyway. I missed the seeing PotC in a theater.
hmmmm, I think everyone knows Part 3 is coming next May...

For what it's worth, the Ninja hated it.

It'll probably beat that 7-day total today in it's second. POTC2 will make at least 100-150 mil more than Superman.

I think POTC2 was easier sell to the public than SR.

I don't think that's true. I've heard from a lot of people who aren't net-savvy that were surprised it ended so abruptly. There was no "To be continued..." on screen or any indication in the marketing I've seen of another sequel.

I doubt that. You'd have to search far and wide to at least find someone who hasn't heard of Superman. WB's entire campaign could have just been a poster with the 'S' shield.

I don't know. I just saw pirates (had to do my part to help you win)

i personally loved this movie. i don't know how you could lose, unless the grinch steals all theaters' reels in the next week.

I'm talking about the movie, not the title character. Not only was The Quest for Peace the last time we saw Superman, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who will be hard to convince that it's okay to make a Superman movie without Christopher Reeve flying in it. Routh is an unknown, Depp isn't. I just think it was easier for Disney to market POTC2.

from imdb:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
$132M Weekend
$132M Total

2. Superman Returns (2006)
$21.9M Weekend
$142M Total

I think we know the answer to the question. You may collect at anytime.

Easiest $50 i ever made

Now if Morneau can hit 7 more HRs and Liriano win the Cy young, i'll be up another $150.

i think they should have run a superman trailer at pirates of the caribbean. this is generally not done (trailers showing for a movie thats out), but think about it. it could be a good idea.

At this point, I think it's safe to say you'll lose this bet. Pirates 2 may very well be the biggest bomb of the year, and they're already making a sequel? Pssh.
