I recognized Winona Ryder and Tyler Perry at first sight. The second being kind of sad and actually pulling me out of the movie...yes, I've seen his movies.

Usually I can pick out the most obscure actors out of a movie and place them. Stephen Lang, "Gods and Generals"? Try Crime Story.

The movies that drive me crazy are the voice acting in animated movies. Usually I'll sit there the whole time trying to figure out who it is and wait until the credits roll to find out. For the most part, I'm wrong. I was sure the Na'vi chief was Terence Stamp...wrong, Wes Studi.

Vincent D'Onofrio is the one I usually never recognize right away. The Player, Men in Black and heck even Adventures in Babysitting.

I have to admit I didn't recognize Winona Ryder until the end credits but the second I saw Tyler Perry the first thing I thought was "shit must be hitting the fan in the Star Trek thread on DVDTalk". :lol:

And rightfully so! I watched Trek at home the other day with my 11-year old daughter and when he appeared she said, "Mommy, that's the one and only thing wrong with this movie."

Nope, I wasn't being sarcastic. She knows who Tyler Perry is because we've watched a few of his movies.

However, we watch lots of movies together that allow us to keep our geek cred.

In general, sci-fi, action, Trek, Star Wars, time travel and comic book movies. Her tastes are very similar to mine, which is cool.

This thread made me think of this. I finally rewatched Nemesis for the frist time, and thought to myself "The Reman viceroy kinda looks like Ron Perlman". Sure enough. underneath all that makeup and prosthetic face parts it was Ron Perlman.

Gene Hackman in Young Frankenstein. In my defense I saw the movie when I was in high school and didn't know he was in it. It's obvious it's him now but at the time it was a big surprise.

I recently watched Reversal of Fortune for the first time in many years. I didn't recognize Felicity Huffman as one of Dershowitz's students.

I guess I'm lucky, I must be the only person who has no idea who Tyler Perry is. And no, I didn't recognize Winona Ryder, which is particularly disappointing since she's been on my List Of Five for several years.

Just got back from Avatar. CCH Pounder in the credits was a shock. And as soon as I saw the name I knew she was the alien Mom.

Back in the 90s, I watched Home Alone 2 several times a year. Only until a few years ago when I ran across it on TV did I realize that Donald Trump was in that movie. As a kid, I didn't know who Trump was.

Just watched American Splendor for the first time yesterday. Saw Judah Friedlander's name in the opening credits, and promptly forgot he was in it until the closing credits were rolling. The guy looks way different without his traditional 5 o'clock shadow, mad scientist hairdo and trucker hat.

Man, it's been years since I've seen it, but I had totally forgotten that it was Judah as Toby. I need to rewatch it again.
