Not quite the same, but it took me forever to realize that Andreas Katsulas, who I knew as G'Kar from Babylon 5, was a pretty famous character actor whose face I recognized when I saw a picture of him without the make-up.
Same with Andrew Robinson who played Garak on Deep Space Nine. I had no idea I'd seen the actor before until I saw him without make-up. (From Hellraiser, Dirty Harry, and a bunch of other films.) |
Tim Curry as "The Darkness" in Legend - I still don't believe it's him :)
|
Second many of these, Edward Norton in Kingdom of Heaven, Gary Oldman in Hannibal, Tim Curry in Legend and wanted to add...
Bruce Spence in MANY of his later bit roles... the Mouth of Sauron in LOTR:ROTK, the long-toothed blue alien in Star Wars Episode II, the Trainman in the second Matrix movie and one of the aliens in Dark City. Definitely my favorite "hidden actor" to find in a movie somewhere. |

Ghoulies was on TV today and I watched it for the first time in probably 20 years. Watching the credits I thought "I wonder if I'll recognize any names" and was surprised to see Mariska Hargitay.

Lenny Kravitz in Precious; if I would have known he was in it before seeing it (like I knew with Mariah Carey), then I probably would have realized it was him.

My most recent "Holy crap!" moment was Clifton Collins Jr. in Star Trek. I loved him in Boondock Saints II as the crazy Mexican guy but seeing him as Ayer in Star Trek blew my mind. I didn't notice it until my 5th viewing. |
